If you are staying or living in the Friedrichshain area near the Simon-Dach-Straße and looking for some fine food instead of Aldi and Döner cuisine you might wanna check out Proviant. It’s the place where we get most of our food from. They sell delicious prosciutto (Parma, Serrano…) and cheese from various countries and regions, bread, pasta (fresh or packaged, different brands than the ones from the grocery store), pesto (fresh and bottled), Italien cookies, wine, olive oil and more.
We recommend the pane casericcio with liver-blueberry-pie, prosciutto di serrano or Rässkäse (Austrain cheese). More infos after the jump. Read on – Weiterlesen »

Cupcake-Queen Dawn pointed this interesting event out to us: The Wild Rose Revue at Admiralspalast this Friday at 10pm. I made a little research on what to expect and found an invitation letter from two of the participating artists, read it after the jump. It looks like it’s going to be a time trip back to the 30′s to a travelling carnivale somewhere in the south of the States. We’ll definately be there. Cupcake is one of the sponsors, so I assume they will have some cupcakes there

Did you ever meet the Green Fairy? She can bring you joy and peace and helps you to make the world a better place! Here in Berlin we have a wonderful little Absinth-Shop, where you can buy the finest Absinth you can find on earth. And if you are in the mood, you can taste the little green bitch in the shop and drink until you are half blind. Marylin Manson loves it, but we don’t love Marilyn Manson. So, see you in the green hell! More infos and photos after the jump. Read on – Weiterlesen »

über is a small but precious concept store in Mitte in the art gallery area of the Auguststraße. They sell all sorts of products including lamps, decorative items, books, cds, kitchen and house ware, jewelery and more, all fitting a specific theme that changes every three months. The current theme is wanderlust, so all items are related to distant places we like to visit. We especially like the cute feather headdresses. More infos and photos after the jump.

No, this is not an ad for a new lady shaver, it’s Mary-Louise Parker promoting her TV show Weeds. Today the third season premieres on Showtime, so let’s lay back and have a nice joint. In Germany you can watch the last few episodes of the second season on Pro Sieben on Wednesdays at 23h or buy the first and second season on DVD. More infos and images at sho.com.

Olivia is a small shop that sells a wide range of exquisite chocolates, deliciouse torten, cakes and petit fours, as well as italian cookies and selected tea and coffee brands. We love the little mousse torten. The shop is quite busy at the weekends, but if you’re lucky enough you can get a free table outside and enjoy your cake with a nice coffee. This is one of our favorite restaurants. The Schneeweiß is located a bit aloof from the Simon-Dach-Straße in Friedrichshain, but although it is a bit hidden it has become quite popular amongst Berlin’s hip-crowd. They serve what they call Alpine Cuisine and in addition to their regular menu they have a quite extensive menu of the day, which is something we love about this place. You can go there every day and always have something new on the menu. We recommend the “Saftgulasch” from the regular menu, it’s just delicious. From the menu of the day everything was great that we had so far, so whatever you order you can be sure they’ll serve something that will delight you. We also like the red “Hauswein”, although I don’t remember its name, I just know it’s an Italian from the Veneto region.
Althoug the place looks a bit expensive it is far from it and we already wonder how they do it. The main courses with meat are between 10 and 14,50 EUR and vegetarian dishes start around 8 EUR. They also have a selection of cakes, torten and excellent desserts. More photos and infos after the jump. Read on – Weiterlesen »

Original Penguin is one of the selected brands sold at Trueffelschwein in the Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße. But they only sell men’s clothing so ignore the female in the image above. Apart from Penguin they also sell Howies, Duffer, Paul&Joe, You Must Create and a few more. They have plenty of nice clothings, shoes and accessories to fill you suitcases. And we love their store decoration. More infos and photos of the store after the jump.

So, for all you fans of Tim Burton movies: Here comes the first poster of the much anticipated musical starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). The movie is released in January/Febuary of next year.
The merchandise toys will probably be available at Big Brobot, Kopernikusstr. 19 in Fhain. At least they have the fabulous merchandise dolls of Burton’s last movie The Corpse Bride and some other Tim Burton collector’s toys.

I have spotted these luxurious new Sony notebooks on my last shopping tour in the Sony Style Store at Potsdamer Platz. Aren’t they lovely? They are so pretty that you actually don’t want to use them. They come in a variety of colors: Indigo Blue, Luxury Pink, Blazing Red and Pure White. They could have just said red, blue, pink and white, but that wouldn’t be so chic, would it? They sell for 1.299 EUR and up, so they are actually quite affordable. And they come with matching bags and mouses. More fancy press photos after the jump. Read on – Weiterlesen »
