Party at Scala Club
Last Saturday, after the fashion disaster at the MODE party, we went to a new club called Scala at Friedrichsstrasse in Mitte. Munk, DJ Kaos and Fuck Hugo were DJing and the Teenagers in Tokyo had a live gig. When we came in we were pleasantly surprised by the young hip party crowd and the nice friendly atmosphere. The club is inside an abandoned building which gives it the typical raw Berlin feel that we enjoy so much. Read on for some more impressions.
The concert of the Teenagers from Tokyo was a lot of fun. These guys are wild! I wish more clubs would have gigs like that. You should check out there music on their MySpace page.
The music was alright, upstairs a bit too hard for our taste. Downstairs it was a bit more experimental with Fuck Hugo (above) mixing electronic music with others styles like 80s synths or latin beats.
The club occupies two floors in an old building on Friedrichsstrasse near the corner of Oranienburger Strasse. With its peeling paint and crumbling walls plastered with tags and street art it reminds us a lot of clubs like Rio or ZMF.
The Macaroni Club hosts its parties at Scala on every month’s last Thursday. The next party is on Saturday with a live gig of Tronik Youth.

guys,
I was in Berlin the Friday just gone (July 18th/19th) and wondered who the djs were. In particular, who was the tall bald DJ? I’d love to know his name and where I can get hold of his stuff

The line-up was the following: HUGO CAPABLANCA, FLO KOLMER, NOMAD, RICHARD CLOUSTON, NATHAN G WILKINS. It was not Hugo, because he has hair. Most of them are linked as friends in their MySpace. So you can check out their profiles for their music. Good luck!
