GIF. ME. BERLIN. Opening Party Photos

GIF. ME. BERLIN. Opening

I can’t tell you how happy I am how the whole GIF. ME. BERLIN. exhibition project has been going so far. So many people came to the opening on Wednesday at HBC and the responses to our little installation was really great. On the next day the online exhibition went live in our virtual gallery and at the smart urban stage magazine and I think our GIFs really look amazing together.

At the night of the exhibition there was one feeling that was quite strong for me (apart from the relief that we have made it all happen): Gratitude! I’m so grateful for all the help and support I got for this project. So I would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone.

First of all a big thank you to the smart urban stage magazine who made it at all possible for this to be a live event. Secondly the .HBC, especially Nico, who was once again an awesome host and supporter of my idea. Then I would like to thank all of the 12 photographers, artists and designers who submitted amazing GIFs! And my dear exhibition team Lia, Claudio and Nathan, you were great! And also our helpers Archer, Jesus, Filipe, Dina and Christophe. My sister Susanne for her awesome cupcakes and finger food. Absolut for their delicious flavoured vodka. Crap = Good for bringing their mechanical GIF Player and Loopcam for hosting our GIF Photobox (the results you can see here). And last but not least all of you people who came to the opening, checked out the online exhibition and wrote about it in your publications. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Weekend Partyguide (pre Christmas)

Everybody around me seems to be heartbroken. No surprise when you constantly listen to Lana and Adele! Turn off this turn off and get yourself into a party mood. The last weekend before Christmas is on and those naughty office Christmas celebrations are waiting that either let you wake up in the bed of a workmate you always used to trash-talk about – not anymore, after your poor performance. Or you move on to a club as very year, hammered already, only to behave like an idiot once again. Always the same with you. Don’t worry, just press the reset button on New Years eve, it will all be forgotten. As will be girl or boy who dared to hurt you. And now switch off that pussy-music. Knit the streets

Shauna Richardson

In the cold Christmas time knitting is one of the favourite hobbies of our grannies.  But instead of socks and scarfs today’s knitters and crocheters are more inclined to its modern form. Urban knitting is one of the most incredible trends of the digital decade. No other housewife craftmanships has become as prominent in the street art scene and more discussed in blogs and social media as knitting and crocheting. The smart-urban-stage.com magazine has created an interesting challenge between graphic design guru Mario Lombardo who asked several urban knitters and chrochet artist to create a new surface for the city of the future. Look at some of the amazing art pieces here and vote here for the best answer.
