A Splash of Creativity – Tom van der Borght and Tata Christiane

When I am watching fashion in a professional context I am never watching for beauty. I always watch for an idea, for a concept, for a creative outcome that I’ve never seen before. This year I had a strange selection of shows I wanted to watch. My plan was to watch really trashy shows and really avant-garde shows. And sometimes there are designers who can handle both in a really good way. A dream come true. This dream was fulfilled this season by the Belgian designer Tom van der Borght and Berlin-based Tata Christiane. Both designers have an incredible way to work with color and prints. If you are like myself always thirsty for a good portion of color you should not miss my impressions after the jump.

Tom van de Borght‘s show at the Fier Showroom consisted of two parts. The first part was under normal light and the second part was under black light. An amazing idea and a very impressive show effect.

Tata Christiane showed her new pieces at the Superficial store. This season is the first season she is working with prints. Definetly a good way for her extravagant designs to evolve.
