Road to dOCUMENTA(13)

Last weekend I was faced with a bit of a predicament: Would I stay in Berlin and visit all the different art fairs, exhibitions and events of the Berlin Art Week, or would I go to see the final weekend of the dOCUMENTA(13) in Kassel. It was clearly a weekend destined to be in the name of art, but it turned out to be delightful for other reasons than art. Together with Claudio and two friends I drove South for 5 hours in a small car to arrive in a medium sized German city that I had never set foot in before. Even though we had spent most our time browsing through all the different exhibition venues of the dOCUMENTA(13) it was the beautiful sunny weather, the delicious ice cream, the beautiful park Karlsaue and the company of good friends that made the time in Kassel so enjoyable for all of us. Of course the exhibitions also had a few highlights (though not as many as I had hoped) that I have photographed for you. Enjoy the art after the jump.

Oh Lord, I love the wooden sowing machines! Fantastic. They feel like the most surreal mash-up of current events, since my boyfriend intended to go to the documenta with his brothers, I am sitting in Kabul but unfortunately arrived a few days late for the satellite documenta that was organised here in the Babur-gardens and have just recently started to watch project runway, despising Heidi but desperate to get myself a sowing machine and pracitce those (nonexistant) skills.
Happy that you made it for the final week.
