Last Days is back!!!

Vogue Gia Carangi

After last month we’ve had so much fun at the Last days of Lindsay party we now focus on the tragic life of one of the first supermodels, Gia Carangi, who was known for her wildness, her unique style, her bisexuality and her ability to always look different in front of a camera!

Gia Marie Carangi (January 29, 1960 - November 18, 1986) was an American fashion model during the late 1970s and early 1980s. She is considered to be the first supermodel. Cindy Crawford was later referred to as “Baby Gia” due to her resemblance to Carangi. More Infos on the party and on Gia after the jump.

Interview with a Party Boy

Pet Shop Bears

Berlin is a magnet to the youth from all over the world. Especially the pulsating nightlife seems to be one of the main attractions. Illeagal parties in abandoned villas, dark and raunchy clubs in old industrial buildings, spontanous raves in the middle of a park, artsy opening events of quirky little galleries and decadent champagne receptions in expensive boutiques. Berlin seems to have it all.

But how do you find the places that are too new or too underground to be in a tourist guide book or on some website’s event listing? We have met someone who has dedicated himself to answering this question. For more than two years Frank has been running the blog iHeartBerlin.de which now seems to be the number one source for many to find the best parties. We talked to him about Berlin and it’s nightlife after he finished a 7 day party marathon last week. Read on for the interview.

I got a feeling, it’s automatic…

Berlin Festival 2009 (retouch)

The Show is over. It’s been a long time awaited, the Berlin Festival at Airport Tempelhof, this unique but in fact contentious location. Myself, I had to recover first before writing down what I experienced at the Festival. After coming home from work on the first day of the Festival, I took a quick shower and remade my make-up before rushing to Tempelhof, just in time to see Pete(r) Doherty and the two dancers he brought with him.

Pete, the ingenious but always wasted former lead singer of The Libertines and former model predator. Well, I rather heard his voice than seeing him in person. Why is it that all those gargantuan guys position themselves directly in front of me? I was highly surprised at Doherty’s clear and unmistakeable voice, singing all the songs in a MTV unplugged manner, giving not only me heebie-jeebies. Later, a friend of mine met him in the backstage bathroom where Pete(r) didn’t seem to be as clear as his voice sounded shortly before, he just was tumbling and mumbling and obviously very drunk…

More impressions after the jump.

The Tim Burton of Berlin

cab_baby_large

Cabaret Baby

When I met the New Zealand born artist Seymour two weeks ago at an opening at Strychnin Gallery he wasn’t exactly over the moon about my comparison with the American cult director and multi-talent Tim Burton. Of course as an artist you don’t really want to hear that your work looks like that of someone else, do you?

But when I first saw one of his sculptures a while ago I couldn’t help but be drawn into this magical dark morbid world that reminds me so much of movies like Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride. Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear? is the title of it and it was the first piece of art that I instantly knew I would buy. At the current show at Strychnin he exhibits a couple of more pieces, amongst them a stunning chess set and a hand painted family portrain in an antique frame (which was sold quite quickly).

On his blog you can take a look into his studio and into the making process. After the jump you’ll see some of his sculptures and paintings, including the one that I own.

Brooke Shields likes younger men - Who doesn’t?

Brooke Shields and Chris Fawcett by Tony Duran for Kurv Magazine

As we didn’t have anything raunchy on this site for a while this sexy photoshoot by Tony Duran for Kurv Magazine comes just in the right moment. It shows 40-something actress Brooke Shields whom you might remember from the Blue Lagoon movie or the latest Candace Bushnell TV show adaption Lipstick Jungle (which has already been canceled by the way) fingering young male model Chris Fawcett. Oh. La. La. It’s about this whole older women/younger men issue, obviously. Some more shots after the jump, including one that is particularly raunchy as it includes full nudity (of the male kind). How very Tom Ford.

Hang in there

Making Of Diesel SS 2009

Regardless of what the genuine fashionista might think of Diesel, their advertising campaigns are always a looker. Take for instance the new campaign for their current spring summer 2009 collection shot by celebrated Swedish fashion photographer John Scarisbrick. Here we have a perfectly handsome male super model by the name of Jon Kortajarena who has already been sucking toes for Tom Ford. Now, instead of just making some sexy shots of him in tight denim, Diesel goes the whole road tying him up and hanging him like the piece of meat he is. Of course some props in the background help to transport the message. Raunchy! It’s obvious that Diesel’s marketing directors have a thing for extreme sexual practices. First fisting, now bondage. But what’s next?

Some more making-of photos of this photoshoot as well as the final campaign images after the jump.

Kabale & Co

Kabale und Liebe at Schaubühne by Arno Declair

Photos: Arno Declair

Generations of students have been tortured with this play. Friedrich Schiller’s Kabale und Liebe is a required reading in German classes and in addition one of the most frequently performed plays. So what forced director Falk Richter to put this 18th century tragedy on stage again? After all, he will be compared with all his precursors. The hope that thousands of students will storm the Schaubuehne cannot be the reason. Richter rather wants to show that Schiller’s subject is timeless and can easily affect us nowadays. Although his version of Kabale und Liebe is not a riot play and it won’t go down in theater history it convinced me with some inventive ideas and an authentic main character. More infos after the jump.

Tom Ford being naughty, again…

Tom Ford Spring/Summer 2008 Ad Campaign

Well, Tom Ford has always been a bit on the naughty side. After you could almost see a female gap in his recent men’s fragrance ad for Tom Ford For Men he probably said to himself “Oh, what the heck!” and totally unwrapped his models for his new spring/summer 2008 campaign. Once again he collaborated with shock photographer Terry Richardson. See the raunchy details after the jump. Click to enlarge, but prepare to blush.

ZIP ZIP, Nat-2

Nat-2

Multifunction is the new black. After presenting you t-shirts and garments which can be turned inside out, it is now time of transformable shoes. The Munich based label Nat-2 is making a new trend with their creative idea! Every model can changed from a sneaker to a flip-flop, thanks to the zipper at the bottom. It would be nice if they would just replace the inexpressibly ugly Crocs from the Italian beaches…

It’s Terry, again

Terry Richardson for Belvedere Vodka

The Tom Ford For Men campaign was only a few months ago and here we are with another encounter with shock-in-style photographer Terry Richardson. This time in moving format and not even that shocking (it kind of get’s old to hold your penis into the picture, doesn’t it?). Just recently he directed a spot for Belvedere Vodka together with Vincent Gallo and RZA, all of them appearing in the video. Check out the video and more infos after the jump.
