The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

The 10 Best Menswear Collections of Berlin Fashion Week

photos: Mercedes-Benz Fashion & Peek&Cloppenburg

In my eyes this Fashion Week edition was outstanding. Throughout the week I took a look at most of the Spring/Summer 2015 menswear collections presented during Berlin Fashion Week, picked my 10 favourite collections and rounded up two of the best looks from each. All the looks seemed very accessible to me with a high wearibility factor and a strong sporty vibe. Even though designers played with different fabrics, shapes and designs, it is quite easy to identify a few strong trends for next summer. Overall the creations were very relaxed and in neutral colors white, black and grey and just the occasional pop of bright colours in the different shades of blue and red. Berlin Fashion: Ade Velkon

Berlin Fashion: Ade Velkon

We all know it, Berlin has always been at the forefront of ideas and creativity when it comes to music and art, but I’m surely not alone believing that it’s about time for fashion design to steal the spotlight. Let us start taking the center stage today with some words about the brilliant Berlin-based emerging designer-duo Ade Velkon. This last April I had the chance to see their third mini retail collection exhibited in a Kreuzberg gallery before its official debut this coming summer 2015, and the overall concept truly captivated me. It’s a very ambitious collection, a mixture of sleek contemporary tailoring and sportswear inspired basics which comes in two neutral colours. It’s definitely a very wearable collection with incredible fabrics and relaxed fitting garments from silky dresses to basketball shorts. ‘Simple and in the details’, that’s what you get from taking a peek at the designs in the lookbook or at the intimate fashion film that accompanies the collection. Yes, I do like it a lot, and yes, I am really looking forward to seeing it out and about on the Berlin streets. Enjoy some promising Berlin talent and get your creative juices flowing with Ade Velkon‘s edgy style after the jump! read more…

Cinéma de Mode: Faces of N.

Cinéma de Mode: Faces of N.

In today’s Cinéma de Mode we have the prelude to artist Gabriel Shalom‘s new project Faces of N., an incredible video which questions the multiplicity of identity and the way clothes express our different personalities. The two-minute prelude portrays Nicole Roscher from the fashion label Von Bardonitz in her personal wardrobe dressing in front of a three-paneled mirror, which reflects a visual counterpoint of images of the different outfits. The video is an introduction to a new live audio-visual performance premiering this spring in Berlin. Check it out after the jump! read more…

Cinéma de Mode: Rendez-vous & Other Stories

Today, our Cinéma de Mode brings to you the first ever & Other Stories‘s fashion film, Rendez-vous & Other Stories, a humoristic and fun short directed by Los-Angeles based filmmaker Wendy McColm. The film is a satirical story which confronts the cliché portrayal of female characters within the fashion genre by capturing the tormented soul of self-indulgent bohemian French actress and blogger  Jeanne Damas who cannot decide which clothes from the & Other Stories’ summer collection to wear. Enjoy the playful film after the jump! read more…

Winter Escapes from Berlin: Istanbul

Winter holidays in the snow are just not my cup of tea. You won’t find me skiing in Hovden or spending a week in Kitzbühel any time soon. That’s probably because every memory I have of being in the snow consists of having flights cancelled, wet feet, or falling on my butt. But that’s fine, luckily there’s plenty of opportunity to indulge in a short holiday for slothful people like me. For example, I’m perfectly content with taking a city break to look around museums. That’s what I actually did a bunch of weeks ago; I packed my bag, took a flight to the fascinating Turkish city Istanbul and had the time of my life. Read why and how after the jump!
