Being Asian, food runs in my blood. I love tracking down good restaurants and I am always excited to test the authenticity of Asian food in Berlin. So, it’s no surprise that the news of Heno Heno quickly brought a smile to my face and cravings for Japanese food to mind. Armed with a generous appetite and Keiko, my Japanese ‘food barometer’, we made our way to this little Imbiss style restaurant (read: no toilets) in Charlottenburg last week. Find out more after the jump.

The idea of making a horrorfilm on stage really sounds like a challange to me. Scary movies usually only work with stunning effects and authentic atmospheres which is something you cannot recreate so easily on stage. The Dog, The Night and The Knife by Marius von Maeynburgs at the Schaubuehne really managed to capture this genre quite vividly. The scenography and atmosphere of this play is absolutely remarklable. It reminded me a lot of the game play adaptation of Silent Hill. But as so many horror movies this play is far from flawless. Learn more in the German version of this post. More images and details after the jump.

A while back I was contacted by the Found gallery from L.A. about an interesting art project that they were planning on doing here in Berlin. The idea was to find pairs of artists who would collaborate on a piece of art without ever communicating with each other. This week the Joint Custody Project Berlin is in its final stage. During 6 rounds the artworks were exchanged between the two partners. You can follow the progress of every single piece in their Flickr stream. None of the participating artists will know who their partner is until the opening reception on Friday at the Raab gallery here in Berlin. See some more samples from differents rounds and details after the jump.

For everyone who can’t stand football and prefers shadows to the sun this is the perfect weekend advice: Ghosts from Henrik Ibsen at the Schaubühne Berlin. An intriguing family story and a lot of secrets are the plot of this mysterious play. The ghosts are the secrets from the past that are still alive in the walls of the antique manor. Even if the narrative is more settled the brilliant actors like Bibiana Beglau and Bruno Cathomas are able to create a great suspense. More pictures and the trailer after the jump.
