Fashion Week has a problem with time. For a few minutes people are wearing clothes on the catwalk that will actually exist in one year’s time. Artistic design vision whos consumable reality will happen only in the future. This year there will be another fashionable time-absurdity. In the closed shop of a deceased grandmother on a Spanish island, a Berlin couple found a real treasure. Giant amount of coats, suits, blouses and skirts from the 60s and 70s, everything in mint condition and with tags. That this treasure not only has historical value, but also a financial one will be proved by the Vintage Love Pop-Up Store which opens during this Fashion Week. After the jump you can find out where it is located and when it is open.

When I heard that A.D.Deertz was closing her flagship store at Kastanienallee earlier this year and would not make a summer 2011 collection, I was a little bit afraid that she would go out of business as so many cool Berlin-based designers have done over the past years. When I asked designer Wibke Deertz about it she assured me that she is not quitting but only taking a break. Back then I wondered, can you take a break from fashion for one season and then just come back? I think many designers wouldn’t dare to leave a season out because it could send the wrong signal out into the industry. It could look like a sign of failure.
But that is nothing but narrow-minded. Designers – just like everyone else – sometimes just need a break to regain their strength, collect new ideas, re-think their business, follow other projects, or just go on a long extended vacation. I’m sure every designer who works like a monkey to produce two collections per year would dream of a little time out.
Wibke took her time out. And now she is back. With a new concept and a new store. Come celebrate the rising phoenix this Saturday at Torstr. 106. Details after the jump.

Clarissa Labin SS11
You probably thought after two big fashion shows and one swap market we would be through with Designer Scouts for this year. Well, think again! This Friday our latest collaboration will see the day of light. Gina, my partner and better half of Designer Scouts, has teamed up with the guys from 8 1/2 Wochen to build up a new concept store in Prenzlauer Berg. Achteinhalb will open its doors this Friday giving you the best in avantgarde fashion from Berlin. Many of the designers that we have worked with this year will be available in the store, amongst them Esther Perbandt, JULIAANDBEN, Paula Immich, Liebig and Carni, as well as many other new pearls like Clarissa Labin that Gina and I have discovered together in London at the On/Off showroom. Come by on Friday to the grand opening, there will be drinks, snacks and music. Details after the jump.

Last Saturday Berlin has increased about 20% in terms of coolness with the opening of the new Pastpresent store at Köpenickerstr. 96. The beautiful black store features mainly the menswear labels Livio and 24/7 Suits, but also has a few other accessorie labels like Moga E Mago that premiered on the Designer Scouts runway only 2 months ago.
We were especially thrilled by the extensive selection of hats. I actually found so many nice pieces that it really hurt that I had already spent all my money in London… After the jump you’ll find impressions from the opening and the details.

I love a pop, and even better: a pop-up shop. The online vintage boutique Das Neue Schwarz is just doing that these days at Mulackstrasse in Mitte. How practical that you can now get your fingers on their selected fine designer vintage goods before you buy them. They do not only carry formerly unaffordable pieces by Helmut Lang, YSL, MMM, Prada Escada and Balenciaga, but also clothes by avant-garde heroes like Bernhard Willhelm, C.Neeon and Ann Demeulemeester. Nice. Details after the jump.

Sessun SS10
Oh, I do miss my old neighborhood around the Boxhagener Platz from time to time. I hardly ever come by there anymore. Many friends who still live or work there I haven’t seen in a while. Many restaurants and shops that I miss, the possibility to get Ben&Jerry’s icecream to every time of the day (which is close to impossible in Mitte!).
This coming Saturday many shops will be open until midnight with drinks and fun and a little bit of party on the street. They did this already last year in the summer. My friends of Visby will be open too. They are especially interesting for the girls with labels such as Modstöm, Twist & Tango, Sessun, Motel, Mimic, Insight, Rules by Mary, Insight & Nümph and Aschön. Look after the jump for details and a list of participating stores.

While Indian Cobras are dying because of polluted water, Berlin is expecting a generous amount of snakes this week. Yes! Berlin Fashion Week is coming again and I guess you are all dying for the little guestlist places at the upcoming events. How to survive the poisonous looks and the evil remarks about your outfit which is always last season no matter what you do? Well I got myself an evil looking but sweet as honey bodyguard and some toxic outfits myself. If you prefer a more peaceful yet trendy way, I recommend you take a look at the Yoga collection from the new upcoming Berlin-based label Umasan. For more lookbook pictures and informations about their flagship store opening after the jump.
