Fans of New Contemporary and Urban Art will be delighted to hear that the STROKE Urban Art Fair is moving from Munich to Berlin for its third edition this coming October. Not only the move from Munich to Berlin - the melting pot for urban and street art - but also the move from spring to fall makes a lot of sense to us because there will be a lot of art fairs and exhibitions taking place to that time during the Kunstherbst.
The venue will be The Station at Gleisdreieck that is also home to the Premium trade show during Fashion Week. We are particularily looking forward to their special exhibition When Bloggers become Artists where 10 bloggers were invited to create a piece of art that will be printed by Whitewall and exhibited at the fair. Participating blogs are LesMads, Amy&Pink, Ignant, Artschoolvets, Styleclicker, Uberding, Eve Without Adam, Whudat, Looky Looky and Suz is submitting something for iHeartBerlin.de.

George is an Australian curator who has put together many exhibitions here in Berlin for instance at her own gallery We Make Stuff Good at Stattbad or at Tape Modern and other places. Not being from Europe makes it a little tricky for her to stay here in Berlin, so her buddies of Stattbad are throwing a party for her at their new place called Pavilion which is right opposite Stattbad at Gerichtstr. 23. The profits should co-finance her visa and laywer. We wish her all the best!

I have heard so much about this place. I always wanted to go, but I never really got quite round it. I’m talking about the Spreepark at Plänterwald. It’s that abandoned amusement park with a quite dramatic backstory. The owner and his son actually sit in prison for trying to smuggle drugs in one of their rides from Peru back to Berlin. It’s all really Hollywood actually.
This coming weekend I will finally have a chance to go to this mythical place. Luna Land is opening it’s doors there for a two-day party marathon with Tiefschwarz, M.A.N.D.Y, Matthew Johnson (live), Ame, Hugo, Un Homme et Une Femme, Crystalmafia, Joey Handsome and many more. Iheartberlin turns three and my participation here one and a half years. One and a half years of weekly headaches, always thinking of bringing the most joy and pleasure to our readers, hard working people who just want to have fun on the weekends. Well, sometimes also during the week. And some of you all the time. There are tons of parties that could be mentioned, but this column is not intended to give you an overview of all the parties in this town. We are not Tip or Zitty aren’t we! It’s time to swap! On August 27 the SKYY SWAP MARKET is coming back to Berlin to Stadtbad Oderberger. Vintage lovers and fashion fanatics will get the chance to exchange their beloved old outfits for fabulous new ones.
Until August 27 you can bring your own outfits and vintage goods to one of the three SWAP-Spots, have them rated and receive a voucher. With this voucher you will get SWAP-Jetons at the event, with them you can pay for new outfits at the SKYY SWAP MARKET. If you don’t have any outfits to submit, you can still buy the Jetons and get something new at the market. The remaining Jetons can be exchanged for drinks at the After Party where Hadnet Tesfai & Uli Beck, Ali Schwarz and DJ Snax will be playing. All the profits of the evening will be donated to the Berliner Aidshilfe e.V. so your fashion addiction is helping a good cause!

Unbelievable but true: Our modest little blog just turned three. When I started iHeartBerlin.de in August 2007 I had no idea how much it would change my life. And I would have never imagined it would also become a part of other people’s lifes. Over the years we have met many of you readers, mostly at parties, but also out in public, in the subway or even at the airport in Stockholm. Every encounter with you has been absolutely charming. And we are grateful for all your kind words and little stories related to this blog.
To have a chance to meet even more of you guys - or meet some of you again - Suz, C.R. and I invite you to our 3rd anniversary dinner this Thursday evening.
