I Heart Dinnerparty
Last Thursday we celebrated our 3rd anniversary over the rooftops of the city at La Mansarde enjoying a wonderful menu that featured Barbarie duck and filled Zucchini flowers. Yummie! And as a special treat we had the delicious cupcakes by our Cupcake Lady Dawn.
It was once again a great experience to meet some of our readers and I want to say thank you to all of you that came for making this a lovely evening. We will do this again soon! I also want to say thanks to my co-authors Suz, C.R. and Jens, as well as all the other authors who have contributed to our blog. More impressions of the evening as well as the great dinner after the jump.

iHeartBerlin.de Anniversary Dinner

Unbelievable but true: Our modest little blog just turned three. When I started iHeartBerlin.de in August 2007 I had no idea how much it would change my life. And I would have never imagined it would also become a part of other people’s lifes. Over the years we have met many of you readers, mostly at parties, but also out in public, in the subway or even at the airport in Stockholm. Every encounter with you has been absolutely charming. And we are grateful for all your kind words and little stories related to this blog.
To have a chance to meet even more of you guys - or meet some of you again - Suz, C.R. and I invite you to our 3rd anniversary dinner this Thursday evening. The dinner is going to take place at La Mansarde a very unique location on a rooftop terrace in central Kreuzberg with an exceptional view over the city. After the jump you will get a glimpse of the location, see the menu and find out how to reserve your place at the table.

Before Berlin
I’ve been living in Berlin now for 10 years. Oh my, has my life been different before this city. I grew up in the East of Germany at the Baltic Sea, for the most part in a concrete ghetto in one of those pre-wall “Neubaublock” high rises. Back then the cities were quite children unfriendly with only few playgrounds. And those had practically no appeal as they were built from cold iron on concrete grounds mostly trimmed for athletic kids. No wonder we had to extend our adventures into the bushes around the houses and into the dark basement labyrinths of the neighborhood. We already had computer games back then, but there was no internet, no cell phones and no social media networks back then. A trip into nature was one excitement to look forward to.
It still is like that today in a way. The other week my good friend Chris and I went for a boat trip and jumped into a lake for the first time this year. So many childhood memories flashed back in that moment. Nature is too rare between night work, parties and fashion weeks.
On his blog Analoge Jugend Chris is taking a look back at the last generation of kids growing up without social media, digital cameras and a desperate force of self-expression. This week you will find a lot of memories of us writers of iHeartBerlin.de there.

The Anti-Fashion Week: Bettina Rheims

I was very happy about the news that Milla Jovowich is the face of the new ad for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The result that you can see here for me was more than disappointing. That’s why I wanted to post this old but still amazing photo book by Bettina Rheims. She took pictures of sexy Milla and a lot of other well known faces without any retouch and with a simple sensuality. I really really love it. More pictures after the jump.
