The wild Renate

Salon Zur Wilden Renate

Last weekend we finally got the chance to check out the new location in Friedrichshain that we’ve been hearing so much about. It goes by the auspicious name of “Salon Zur Wilden Renate” and is located rather unfortunate at the border of Friedrichshain right at the Treptower bridge. Last time we tried to go there it was already pretty wild on the outside with people piling up in front of the door like they were selling bananas back in the good old GDR days. We gave up after nothing moved for half an hour. So that’s why we showed up pretty early last Saturday, and voila we came in pretty quickly. Read on to find out how it was and see some photos of the party.

We were pretty surprised of how the location looked from the inside. Instead of industrial halls and cement walls we found an old residential house with a big apartment in the second floor that was turned into a club. The house itself is pretty shabby and old, but they put up some kitchy decoration, and with some baroque wallpapers, old tiled furnaces and plenty of small rooms and corners full of sofas the whole place made a quite cosy impression. It was a bit cold though, but that changed as the party got started and the rooms filled up with people.

They have two rooms with dancefloors and both played pretty decent electronical music that night. Other rooms were equipped with sofas and beds.
