The Weekly Event Guide

Helloooo 2012. We were thinking a lot if we should do a 2011 recap or a 2012 forecast. But, frankly I’ve seen quite enough of these on the big wide interdolly and I want to spare you yet another. So let’s get 2012 rolling with our event of the first week. We have the usual mix of art, movies, parties and other opportunities for a fun night after the jump.

Wednesday, Jan 4

If you like short films, you should check out 10 Kurze – a screening of 10 short films at HBC, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9, starting at 20h.

Are you all on Facebook? I’m sure most of you are. If you have ever wondered about the dangers of facebook, you should watch the film Catfish, that is being screened at the Mobile Kino at Naherholung Sternchen, Berolinastraße 7, at 20:30.

Fennec Fox, Marius Funk and mony more at Shade at Flamingo, Kleine Präsidentenstr at Monbijoupark. Starts at 23:30h.

Thursday, Jan 5

Idrawalot Gallery at Boddinstr. 60 is opening a solo exhibition titles Disillusion of Narrative with works by Australian artist Angus Baird at 19h.

Premiere of the theatre play Lyrics by Helene Hegemann and Kathrin Krottenthaler with mentorship by René Pollesch at Ballhaus Ost, Pappelallee 15, starting at 20h. Shows also on Friday and Saturday at 20h.

Friday, Jan 6

I haven’t actually been to KitKatClub since its move to former Sage Club a few years ago. But the concept event Gegen Illusions might be a good reason to check it out after such a long time. The whole event seems quite mystical to me with a haunting teaser trailer and cryptical description text. But one thing’s for sure: there’s a lot going on. Performances, art, live painting, magicians, tarot readers, massages and of course music. Starts at 23h, Köpenickerstr. 76.

Pierre, one half of the Berlin-based event and booking agency Mit Vergnügen, is celebrating his Birthday at what?! club with Gebrüder Teichmann, Clé and many more. Pierrevision #7 starts at 23h, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 11.

Saturday, Jan 7

Gallery Neue Berliner Räume is presenting the big group show CLAIM with work of 20 international artists from different fields starting at 19h. The exhibition runs until January 21, 2012, Tue-Sat 12-18h.

Sunday, Jan 8

New queer karaoke night New Wave Bearaoke taking place at Monster Ronson’s at Warschauer Atr. 34, 19h. 6 EUR entrance, free beer until midnight. Beards very welcome 😉
