Introducing: Kochhaus

You are standing right in the middle of the supermarket, wondering about what to cook for the evening. There are hundreds of ingredients around you, the possibilities are endless, but as you did not bring your cooking book, you just don’t know what to do – and finally, you end up with another pasta dish.

If that situation is familiar to you, then you might want to check out the Kochhaus. It is is a new kind of grocery store with one place in Prenzlauer Berg, one in Schöneberg and one in Kreuzberg that has become very popular in the last few years. Get more information after the jump.

The concept is as easy: the Kochhaus offers a choice of recipes and you can buy the exact amounts of ingredients that you need for it – so you just pick one of the recipes and you automatically have all the ingredients, without having any leftovers later on.

The Kochhaus offers starters, main courses and deserts. It is mainly European cuisine, but they have some Asian meals as well. Even though the Kochhaus is not cheap (a main course costs between 4,50 and 12 €), all the meals I tried were delicious. Every recipe comes with an idiot-proof description, so that really nothing can go wrong. Here is an example: spaghetti with chorizo, spinach salad and orange butter.

So, if you are tired of pasta with tomato sauce and all that Jamie Oliver stuff, you might want to consider the Kochhaus as an alternative.
