This coming week has a lot to offer for all the film fans amoungst you. There are screenings at Mindpirates and the Mobile Kino, the Achtung Berlin festival is premiering the new Berlin documentary Berlinized and the Designer Scouts are presenting their new fashion film. In addition we also have a theatre play at Kater Holzig, jewellery markets, concerts, parties and much more after the jump.
Tuesday, Apr 17
Family Times at Merkezi, Adalbertstr. 5/6 is offering yet another cosy evening with a free basic menu, DJs and drinks. Starts at 19:30h.
Another edition of the Mobile Kino at Naherholungssternchen is bringing us Big Director with Small Films. This time with short films by Gus Van Sant, David Lynch, Paul Thomas Anderson, Todd Solondz, Andrea Arnold, Tim Burton and more. Berolinastr. 7 (walk behind Kino International on the left side). Starts at 20:30h.
Wednesday, Apr 18
Another Introducing event takes place this Wednesday at Bi Nuu inside the U-Bahnhof Schlesisches Tor (formerly Kato) with live performances of I Heart Sharks, Breton and Islet, starting at 20h.
How far is the world of techno clubs away from the world of theatre? The answer to this question is the play Das Digital that premiered last Friday at Kater Holzig. There are more shows this week, daily at 20h until Sunday. See the trailer below. More infos here.
Mindpirates presents a diverse selection of documentary shorts at their Filmmaker Night, followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers of “Die Frau des Fotografen”. Schlesische Str. 38, 21h.

Artconnet Berlin is inviting to another Networking Breakfast, this time with hosts Nadja Sayej from Artstars and photographer Christoph Neumann. Starts at 10h in the morning. Boddinstr. 62.
Amir Fattal, former curator of the Tape Modern exhibitions, is curating another big group show titles Broadcast together with Wil Murray at the awesome Funkhaus Nalepastr. 18-50. In a space like this the art is almost secondary, not that that’s the case for this exhibition. Opens at 19h. Runs until Sunday, daily from 12-17h.
Cherry-O-Kie, the new queer karaoke night is taking you on a wild ride at Südblock, Admiralstr. 1-2, starting at 22h.
Friday, Apr 20
My second project, besides iHeartBerlin, is having another event called Berlin/Toronto this Friday. With Designer Scouts we have produced a new fashion film with Glamcanyon‘s Katja Hentschel for the Fashion & Art Toronto Festival that is taking place next week in Toronto. With this film we are presenting the labels Augustin Teboul, Esther Perbandt, Moga E Mago, Sadak and Von Bardonitz to an international audience in Toronto, Canada, for the first time. We will premiere this fashion film here in Berlin on Friday at Merkezi Gallery, Adalbertstr. 5/6. There is a closed press event with a live fashion presentation at 19h, but from 21h onwards we will screen our film open to the public. See the trailer of our film below.
Saturday, Apr 21
Berlinized is a documentary film by Lucian Busse about the party and art scene of Berlin in the 90s when the city was still undiscovered by international tourists and money hungry investors. Very interesting piece of film! The world premiere screening takes place this Saturday as part of the Achtung Berlin film festival at Kino Babylon at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz starting at 18h with an after party at HBC later on. Artconnect is hosting the first Jewelry Trunk Show this Sunday at Boddinstr. 62 with many young jewellery designers selling their unique pieces. It’s open from 12-18h.
