This week we can look forward to some awesome exhibition openings, a festival all about food, a pair of vintage markets and the highly anticipated book launch of the first Travelettes book. These and more events after the jump.

Monday, May 28

Berlin-DJ-legend Jake The Rapper is celebrating his birthday with a big party at Kater Holzig, Michaelkirchstr. 22, starts as a Monday after hour at 9 in the morning and goes on until Tuesday at 9 in the morning.

Wednesday, May 30

The Flow Festival is Helsinki’s biggest music, art and film festival. This year it will be headlined by Björk, Lykke Li, Four Tet & Caribou, Bon Iver, Feist and Miike Snow from August 8-12, 2012. Amazing line-up! The festival will have a special appearance at the Finnish Wave Night at Prince Charles, Prinzenstr. 85f starting at 20h. They will bring some Finish music to Berlin with live acts Black Twig, Bendagram and Phantom. Entrance is free, but you have to register before by emailing to  rsvptohelsinki@nbnberlin.de really quickly.

Thursday, May 31

The Bold Room at Torstr. 68 is opening the exhibition Animalia II by illustrator Max Gärtner. Starts at 19h. The exhibition will be open until June 29th, 2012 from 10-18h.

Photographers Sonja Gutschera and Leif Osthoff are opening their new exhibition at Made My Day, Torstr. 66 starting at 19h.

Dark Bird are celebrating the release of their new album at Drei Schwestern, Bethanien, Mariannenplatz 2 at 22h with guest DJs Traded Pilots Joey Hansom.

Friday, Jun 1

Neukölln gallery The Cheese Mountain Tragedy is celebrating their first anniversary and book release party at Schönleinstr. 32. The work of artists Johan Potma, Josh Bauman and Wolfgang Reimers will be on display. There will be some free goodies for those who can memorize the secret phrase “I have got a swollen sweater and my horse is getting cranky” and tell it to one of the artists. Starts at 16h.

The wonderful Travelettes are celebrating the release of their first book titled In High Heels um die Welt at Sing Blackbird, Sanderstr. 11. Starts at 18h.

Artist Sarah Illenberger is opening a solo exhibition at Voo Store, Oranienstr. 24, starting at 20h. The exhibition will be open until June 12th, 2012.

The Museum für Fotografie a.k.a. the Helmuth Newton Gallery at Jebenstr. 2 is opening the new Newton exhibition White Women / Sleepless Nights / Big Nudes at 20h. The exhibition will run until November 18th, 2012.

Saturday, Jun 2

After the private opening party on Friday evening the  Taste Festival at Direktorenhaus has its first public day. The festival offers a diverse program of special food events, an exhibition, mini markets and parties all about the pleasure of food. The festival runs until June 10th at Am Krögel 2. More about the festival on the blog shortly…

As part of the Taste Festival the Merkezi is hosting the Volksspeisung, a special dinner and culinary and artistic happening. Make a reservation for the 4 course menu (20EUR, excl. drinks) by emailing to contact@volker-eichenhofer.com. Starts at 20h at Adalbertstr. 5/6.

The Backyard is hosting a special vintage and designer market by Gussy Bombs (free entry, also no fee for sellers) starting at 18h. At midnight the market will be followed by the infamous Last Days party, this time it’s Last Days of Vintage with DJ sets by Mary Ocher, Engtanzkavalier and more. Gitschinerstr. 22.

Sunday, Jun 3

The English language expat magazine Exberliner is celebrating their 10th anniversary. Congrats from iHeartBerlin!! The X Party takes place at Badeschiff, Eichenstr. 4, starting at 16h. Bring swimsuites! Live performance of Aerea Negrot (Hercules & Love Affair)! Due to the bad weather this was moved to June 29.

The WMP Vintage fleamarket is back in a new location at Markthalle IX in Kreuzberg open from 12-18h. They have expanded their selection of sellers to furniture, hand-made stuff and music. There is also gonna be live music and food. From now on it’s going to take place every first Sunday of the month.
