The Weekly Event Guide

This week there is sooo much going on it’s going to be one of those where you plan on doing all of it and then end up doing none because there are just to many events to attend to. Well, still you shouldn’t miss the Planningtorock DJ set today, Artconnect anniversary event program on Thursday til Sunday, the Bodi Bill book launch and the anniversary party of Sing Blackbird. Tuesday, August 7

Family Times at Merkezi, Adalbertstr. 5/6 with a free basic menu, this time a vegetarian summer menue. Starts at 19h.

Mobile Kino and Shameless/Limitless present the screening of the 96′ movie Hard Core Logo along with a special pre-screening of a series of music videos of Berlin-based musicians. At Raum, Zigrastr. 15, 21h.

A nameless party at Loftus Hall with Dj sets by Planningtorock, Lauren Flax (Creep, Fischerspooner), Black Cracker, Marius Funk and Akia. Maybachufer 48, 23h.

Wednesday, August 8

The new art space AUTOCENTER presents the MA exhibition of the NYU Berlin Studio Art. Opening starts at 20h, Eldenaer Str. 34a. Exhibition runs until Friday.

A celebration of art, music and performance is taking place in the shape of the Salon der Alchemisten, starting 20h at Chalet, Vor dem Schlesischen Tor 3.

As part of the Berlin Porn Film Festival the Kino Moviemento is screening the German premiere of Swedish film She Male Snails, a documentary fairytale about a human between two genders. See Trailer. Kottbusser Damm 22, 20:30h.

The Mindpirates are screening the Berlinale Film Pacha, a radical, visually powerful and poetic appeal for change, based on demonstrations that took place in 2003 when Bolivia’s indigenous majority protested against the sale of their gas resources to American companies. Starts at 22h, Schlesische Str. 38.

Thursday, August 9

Citizens Reporting, A Collective Memory is  the second phase of the Global Revolutions project by the Mindpirates. It’s a 4-day program of talks, discussions and film screenings that address the emergence of citizen journalism due to the rapid transformation of the social and political climate within the Middle East. Runs from Thursday to Sunday. Learn more about the program here.

The Gestalten Space is opening the exhibition Bockumenta 1 by artist Frank Höhne who is also celebrating the release of his first monograph. The exhibition opens at 18h at Sophie-Gips-Höfe, Sophienstr. 21 and runs until September 16th 2012.

Artconnect Berlin is celebrating their 1st anniversary with a 4 day programm of events starting with the opening of a group exhibition in three galleries, including their own Headquarters at Boddinstr.  62, the Kaleidoskope and Idrawalot. Until Sunday there will be more parties, concerts, a networking breakfast and a  fundraising auction. Learn more about the program here.

Friday, August 10

Vintage boutique and vegan café Sing Blackbird is celebrating their 2nd anniversary at Prince Charles, Prinzenstr. 85f starting at 19h.

Strychnin gallery opens their new group exhibition Villains & Assassins at 19h at Boxhagener Str. 36.

Architectural Thinking in Architecture Shorts is a lecture with videos by Cornelia and Holger Lund. Starts at 20h at General Public, Schönhauser Allee 167c.

Constanza Macras and her DorkyPark crew are playing their piece Open For Everything about the Roma community in Europe at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz this weekend from Friday til Monday at 20h.

Bodi Bill are celebrating the release of their book MERK: WHAT at Heidestr. 5 at 23h with a live-set by Thomalla.

A very special big Blitz with Light Asylum live at Festsaal Kreuzberg, Skalitzerstr. 130, 23h.
