The Weekly Event Guide

This week is quite exciting with the return of some beloved places that closed down and were sorely missed. I’m talking about baked-potatoe heaven Bixel and the Appartment, formerly at Prenzlauer Allee 242. Both gems of Berlin have new temporary homes now. This and more after the jump.

Monday, October 1

The return of famous baked-potatoe joint Bixels is happening this week, for one week only at Club der polnischen Versager at Ackerstr. 169. Mon-Sat, 12-21h.

Tuesday, October 2

As part of the Creative Match Kreuzberg presented by iGnant, Finding Berlin and EyeEm the urban art event Rock the Block takes place on October 2-3 in Kreuzberg. An area encompassed by Skalitzerstr, Adalbertstr, Oranienstr, and Mariannenstr, will be transformed into a large scale open air urban arts exhibition. This exhibition show cases everything from wall murals and large scale outdoor video projections to public interventions and performances from an array of celebrated Street Artists both local and international.

Wednesday, October 3

The Rock the Block exhibition is also happening today. See Tuesday for details.

The Südblock is not only a place for parties and drinks. This Wednesday they host a political panel talk about the NSU affair starting at 16h, Admiralstr. 1-2.

The new queer bimonthly party AA at August II bar at Auguststr. 2 again tonight starting at 21h, free entry.

Thursday, October 4

As part of the exhibition of the most beautiful books from 2012 the Reading Room of do you read my? presents Polymeer, a talk with illustrator Alexandra Klobouk and the team of the Onkel & Onkel publishing house from Berlin. Starts at 19h.

Book presentation and talk about Cool Aussehen, a new independently published book about Youth Culture and styling, will be presented at the Katersalon, the new gallery space at Kater Holzig. Starts at 20h, Michaelkirchstr. 23. The entrance fee of 7 EUR will be used for the printing cost of the book.

Party-boy Bronson is throwing a new gay party named Spank The Monkey at King Size bar. So get you butts out, monkeys of the city, you’re gonna get a spanking! Friedrichstr. 112b, 21h.

Friday, October 5

XXX is hosting a Kitchen Concert with dinner together with Dutch avant-garde record label Enfant Terrible. Limited entrance (5 EUR), make your reservation at rsvp@xxx-berlin.com.

LEAP at Kar-Liebknecht-Str. 13 opens its new group exhibition 20111111111111111s (pronounced “two thousand elevens”) that centers around noteable events in 2011. Opens at 20h, exhibition runs until October 19, 2012 (Tue-Sat 12-18h).

Heideglühen celebrates the end of the summer at Heidestr. 5, 22h.

Beaner (Bar25) is celebrating the release of his new record at Chalet, Am Schlesischen Tor 3, starting at 22h.

Wrong Era with Emil doesn’t Drive and Franz Underwear at Loftus Hall, Maybachufer 48, starting at 23h.

Saturday, October 6

Sing Blackbird vintage and WMP! joined forces for the Blackbird Makes Party Fleamarket taking place at The WYE, Skalitzerstr. 86, 12-18h.

The beloved Pampero Appartement, home to the Tuesday’s Dinner for Friends and the first Last Days parties at the old Bötzow brewery at Prenzlauer Allee 242, is coming back for one night only after its closing in 2010. Appartement Re-Installed is taking place at Atelierhof Kreuzberg, Schleiermacherstr. 31-37 starting at 20h with a big group exhibition and after party. After this the Appartement project will continue with a new title: Pampero Colectivo.

The Flamingo is celebrating its first Birthday today at Kleine Präsidentenstr. 4a, starting at 22h. Congratulations!

The Naherholung Sternchen is host to a party called Die Welt wie sie uns gefällt (The world as we like it) organized by a group of young people who put a lot of attention to detail as you can see in the trailer. They will transform the venue into a joyful wonderland. Berolinastr. 7, starts at 23h.
