Lucky Thursday: Berlinale Talents Tickets

Every year the Berlinale presents cinematic masterpieces from a variety of artists. But instead of hoping those geniuses of film will fall from the sky the Berlinale also does something for the education of those on their way to stardom. The Berlinale Talents is a discussion forum for filmmakers from around the world and those simply interested in listening and learning. We are giving away 2 tickets to a couple of great panels this week! More after the jump.

You want to win two tickets to either of the two panels described below? Let us know which one by leaving a comment and keep your fingers crossed!

The Science of Fiction: Shaping New Worlds
Guests: Ed Cookson, Patrick Hannenberger, Twany Schlieski
Tuesday Febuary 11, 14-15:30h,  HAU 1

World Building designates an iterative and collaborative narrative practice in which the design of a world precedes the telling of a story, producing new worlds beyond the rules of the reality in which we live. This World Building panel with experts including production designer Patrick Hanenberger (2012), Ed Cookson, project director of the London 2012 Olympics‘ digital content, and Tawny Schlieski from the Intel Labs will discuss ways to build experiences and worlds in which stories unfold in new mind-blowing ways, redefining the limits of design and narrative, moving into a landscape where art and science, design and engineering are inseparable.

Uncovering Stories: Filmmakers breaking the Rules
Guests: Haifaa Al Mansour, Umut Dağ, Marie Ka
Wednesday, Febuary 12, 14 – 15:30h, HAU 1

Films are an excellent medium to reveal societal codes and rules, often through exceptional characters who question or overturn them. Haifaa Al Mansour, the first Saudi woman to make a film, and Berlinale Talents alumna from 2009, returns to discuss her film Wadjda, which won numerous prizes. Also joining are Austrian director Umut Dağ (Cracks in Concrete) and Senegalese filmmaker Marie Ka to discuss her film The Other Woman, a controversial love story set in Dakar.

There are of course plenty more panels and presentations to join. Check out the Berlinale Talents website for Info and tickets.
