Kids-friendly Places in Berlin

Although we usually share with articles tips and recommendations on places and events of a slightly different nature, here comes one for those among our readers who have kids as well as for all these occasions when your little cousin comes to visit and you have simply no idea where to take them if you don’t want to cause a lasting damage to their mentality. Ranging from popular tourist attractions to some little-known coffee places that are aimed at welcoming kids, we’ve come up with a list including spots for all age groups.

1. Milchbart Kindercafe

This super cute cafe in Prenzlauer Berg is ready to welcome parents with their kids on a daily basis. Offering delicious coffee and a selection of home-made cakes, the place has a lot of toys for the little ones to play with. The space can also be rented for birthdays.

2. Paul und Paula

This coffee place is also aimed at providing a friendly environment for both kids and parents to enjoy their stay. The interior is filled with cosy seats and DIY cushions, the cakes are hand-made and the coffee is fair trade. Bonus for the parents: while you’re there, you can browse through a selection of original toddler- and kids- clothing as well as toys. The place is also organizing events such as theater plays and different courses.

3. Das Zeiss-Großplanetarium

This place in Prenzlauer Berg is definitely aimed at a little bit older kids, but worth a visit also for the adults. The impressive building is the host for a  scientific theater with a variety of programmes for kindergarten and school kids.

4. Zoologischer Garten

Berlin’s zoo and aquarium speak for themselves, really. Their location is really convenient if you want to do some shopping or just go for a family stroll on the famous Kurfurstendamm right after you get to look at some of the most amazing animals out there.

5. MachMit! Museum

This museum is directed to kids with various possibilities of teaching through playing and encouraging kids to explore and try out new things on their own. If your kid can’t stay calm when walking around an exhibition, that’s a place for you, because this museum keeps the young visitors active at all times.

6. Labyrinth Kindermuseum

This museum for kids largely based on interactive exhibitions (available in English as well) also encourages them to learn and explore from the youngest age. There are special group workshops that kids can be registered for. The fun space can also be rented for a birthday.

7. JUMP Berlin

This fun place allows both the youngster and their guardians to indulge in one of the best childhood activities: jumping! This trampoline paradise is also available as a venue for organizing birthdays and even offers some workshops like the freestyle or fitness jump you might want to come back for.

9. The Orbitall in FEZ Berlin

The Orbitall is a very exciting place for all children interested in space travel. They will enjoy a lot of interesting features such as the training hall, space operations center, and spaceship interior, all equipped with specific devices.

10. Filmpark Babelsberg

This tourist attraction is located a bit farther from Berlin in Potsdam, but nevertheless worth a visit. The film park comprises of all kinds of movie sets and props, the kids can enjoy fun movie-themed rides and there are also some restaurants around to provide snacks.
