Halloween And A Trip Down Party Memory Lane

Halloween And A Trip Down Party Memory Lane

You know we love a good party, and you can imagine being locked up for the last 1,5 years has been a challenge. It has been itching under our fingernails now for a while, so when our former iHeartBerlin party writer Suz asked us if we wanted to do a Halloween party with her at Backyard it was pretty much a given we would jump at the opportunity.

Backyard has a place in our hearts because we celebrated so many parties here, most famously the iconic Last Days parties. Those of you who have been around here for a while might even remember the various party photo sets we published in those days. It was certainly something that shaped iHeartBerlin and its place in the Berlin blog and magazine world.

iHeartBerlin’s Secret Party: The Hangout Berlin by Soundboks

iHeartBerlin’s Secret Party: The Hangout Berlin by Soundboks

Following our concert event with Lie Ning last year at Hallesches Haus, we got together again with Danish speaker brand Soundboks last week for one of their Hangout Berlin sessions and hosted a small secret iHeartBerlin gathering where we invited our current and previous team members and friends to have a good time together.

It was our first event this year, and boy, have we been starving for something like that. It was the first time in a year that we had the whole crew together in one place and it just felt great to finally meet everyone again. We’re super happy that Soundboks made this happen for us.

Exploring Berlin: Hanging Out in Kreuzberg

Exploring Berlin: Hanging Out in Kreuzberg

Following the spirit of our Exploring Berlin series we want to look at another district today and show you our favorite places there. This time we chose the one that we are surrounded by the most as our office at Blogfabrik is located right in the middle of it. I’m talking about Kreuzberg of course, probably one of the most popular districts of Berlin at the moment.

People who come to Berlin just love it here. It’s buzzing and it’s relaxed at the same time. It offers everything from delicious food, compelling art, pulsating nightlife and cultural entertainment. But apart from all of that Kreuzberg is particularly good for one thing: Just hanging out and having a good time. So we drove around in the past days dropping by the most beloved hang-out spots of the Berliners and snapping some photos for you. By the way all of the photos in this feature have been taken with the new Sony Xperia Z5 smartphone (versus the Z1 or my SLR that I normally use) which is being presented at the IFA these days. But now let’s dive into our favorite places in Kreuzberg.

Exhibition Opening Lichtrotor // Hautskizzen

Exhibition Opening Lichtrotor // Hautskizzen

You probably know Backyard in Kreuzberg from various parties and events such as the Last Days parties, but Backyard’s origins are that of an art gallery.  Tonight they open a new exhibition called Lichtrotor // Hautskizzen with an installation by upcoming industrial designer Danai. The project she did with three other artist shows a hypnotizing kinetic installation that rotates and creates an interaction between humans and the object. In addition, artist Suzan Rinow who you might happened to see at Berghain bar during the weekends, is going to present her beautiful tattoo sketches, right now available in a tattoo studio in Torstr. So tonight, at the opening, you might stumble about your next tattoo motive ( which you can chose exclusively from Suzan ) and get hypnotized by the Lichtrotor installation at the same time. Of course there will be music and we have seen these exhibition openings eventually turning into an after party. You can join the Facebook event here and get an impression of the tattoo sketches after the jump. Read on…

The Last Days of Tori Spelling Party

The Last Days of Tori Spelling Party

We are looking forward to our favourite party Last Days that is gonna take place this Saturday! Once a month the chance to meet that special person is enormously high as there are Last Days-couples who met at the party and meanwhile live together. Apart from that the party is great fun, being based at lovely Backyard in Kreuzberg. Watch some pics of last time here. This time the Last Days of Tori Spelling will be celebrated. Tori used to play naive Donna in Beverly Hills 90210 and has recently filled the celeb news on addiction, anorexia, divorce, cheating and what else. The girl who’s father gave her the role of Donna is meanwhile clearly a wrecked case of a Last Days celeb. Last Days adapts the early 90s theme of Beverly Hills 90210 that used to be the most successful TV show of this time. So get dressed up und celebrate Donna with a lot of 90s hip hop, 80s music, RnB and all that dance stuff that is played at Last Days. See you on Saturday!

Backyard Anniversary

Backyard Anniversary

On the occasion of tomorrow’s 3rd Anniversary of the Backyard (home to Suz’ Last Days parties) I was looking for a nice title photo for the event guide and stumbled across this photo set I made at the first anniversary party 2 years ago which apparently I never published on the blog, don’t know why. Well, but better late than never I would say and today is a good day to look back in anticipation for tomorrow! Happy Birthday! Enjoy!

Almost Legal – THC Crew, Dan Rowe & Adam Tylicki

Almost Legal – THC Crew, Dan Rowe & Adam Tylicki

It is impossible to take the S-Bahn or the bus in Berlin without noticing the graffitis of Kreuzberg grafitti crew THC. You might have not actively noticed if you’re not into graffiti art, but their works and the three letters T H C are everywhere, not just in Kreuzberg. THC belongs to Berlin just like the Fernsehturm or the Döner, being a group of guys, born and raised in a Berlin of the 90s, influenced by Hip Hop music and the fast changing city. For the exhibition Almost Legal at Backyard, THC is exhibiting for the first time ever inside a room, all legal, a new experience for them and for us. To keep it underground they will premiere a video showing the work process of a piece, on the streets and barely legal. Cause may the rents go high and the streets go pretty, this is still Kreuzberg 36, right?! More about the group exhibition and the other artists taking part after the jump.
