I can’t believe the Picknick is only half a year older than iHeartBerlin! On Saturday they celebrated their 6th birthday and it was complete and utter madness. The people went crazy and it was a massive blast. It was beautiful to see how a Mitte club like this has maintained its appeal over all those years (and we know how painfully short lived everything “cool” is in Berlin, it’s a brutal business really). Normally I never chose a photo of myself for the opener of an article. But this time I feel like I have to make an exception to pay tribute to my costume that I was wearing for the Choose Your Weapons Halloween party at Picknick. I think never in my life have I been approached and photographed more often than with my Jesus costume this year, in public and at various parties. I guess it’s because everyone instinctivly thought I can somehow release them from their sins in this sinful city. But I think it needs someone else than Jesus to do that. Two week’s ago Cookie, owner of the famous Cookies club at Friedrichstaße, invited to a very special open air party at Rummelsburger Bucht. Calling it an island was a bit of an overstatement, as it clearly was not an island. Nevertheless we arrived there on a boat and set foot on a little oasis with ice cream, BBQ, drinks, art and music in a relaxed picknick atmosphere with young and old rejoicing on the grass and enjoying the view over at the Spreepark. With this wonderful weather there is one thing people from the city are craving for: A picknick outside in nature. The ecoShowroom at Almstadtstraße is organizing exactly that. Together with the Möbelwerkstadt Werder they are inviting to a Bio Picknick and a walk through the woods at the Ribbecker Forst on June 19th 2011. At the picknick you will be able to try and taste the products available at the ecoShowroom. During the walk through the forest you will learn more about sustainability of forestry.
