Even when it comes to Christmas events, Berlin has style and originality. If you were thinking that Christmas markets in this city are just about drinking smoking hot glühwein, eating “ich-liebe-dich”- gingerbread hearts or thousand different chocolate delicacies, you are wrong. The Berlin Christmas events have so much more to offer! To help you experience the Berlin Christmas season, we have created a 2018 Christmas Markets’ guide of the best and unconventional markets to visit in December. Berlin’s just as versatile as you might have expected – you’ll find a few traditional markets, some really design-oriented events, and even a Christmas film festival. Have a look! Finding the perfect Christmas gift it is not going to be demanding and boring anymore.
Are you in for another kind of Christmas market? This one is not necessarily recommended to be visited with your parents. If your friends or preferably your spouse or tinder date announced that they will most likely boycott going to any Christmas market this year, the Naughty Xmas Market will come in handy for you. Sameheads 2nd Hand Xmas Market
On the 8th of December, the well-known Neukölln bar “Samehead” is organizing a Xmas market, but in its special way: with a clothing market. A selection of designers and stylists will be selling you secondhand wares and clothes, with an emphasis on the wow factor. In the meanwhile, while choosing the best vintage Christmas present to buy, you can obviously enjoy Glühwein or the Sameheads favourite Hot Apple Whiskey & Cinnamon.

Whoever cannot stand Berlin low temperatures and Berlin greyness, but dreams of Latin America and of something more “caliente” for a weekend, should visit the unique Latin American Christmas Market at Osthafen, the area on the Spree between the S-Bahn stations Treptower Park and Ostkreuz. The Mercado Navideño is the perfect place to warm you up, where carefully selected food trucks will be ready to serve you tasty culinary menus while art exhibitors will be ready to propose you their best pieces of ceramics, wood, jewelery, textiles and much more. Kids are invited too: the market will not lack exciting lectures by Santa Claus himself and obviously, the famous Latin American piñata!

Klunkerkranich Christmas Market
Klunkerkranich’s team is always on point and this season are obviously coming back, organizing the (probably) “higher” christmas festival you can get in Berlin. From the rooftop of the Neukölln Arcaden, the gates for christmasenthusisasts will be open for all advent weekends. While enjoying the city lights from above, you can shop creative and unusual gifts having a wide selection of delicious food – from homemade pizza, hearty dumplings, to the refined Quesadilla. However, to get in the traditional mood for Christmas, the all-time classics will be obviously included: glühwine, apple punch and why not- a special cocktail menu. Moreover, Klunkerkranich organizes every Sunday the “Kranichküchen”, a special children-programme with cinema, puppet´s theater and children disco. The Holzmarkt is striking again this Christmas with its “Heissa Holzmarkt Winter Market”, in which Glühwein, DJs and delicious food are not going to be missed at all. For all the advent weekends, the Holzmarkt will become a cozy Christmas fairytale hut with not only markets but also exhibitions, shows, performances and food stalls, serving a large choice of food and drinks.
The “Heissa Holzmarkt” is also child-friendly: you can drop in at the Holzmarkt with you children on Sundays, where they would be enjoying a huge indoor playground, fairytales readings. Whether charcuterie or champagne, ceramics or tin toys, the Markthalle is not going to leave you empty-handed.

This massive Christmas market located in the heart of Berlin-Mitte is more like a spectacle of sorts. Here you can find manufacturers from all over the world, bringing their handcrafted art and culinary delicacies to Berlin (which you can often sample—so come on an empty stomach).
This annual market attracts many tourists, but also brings the Christmas spirit to Berlin; with it’s giant Christmas tree, daily plays, elaborate decorations and concerts. Weihnachtsrodeo – Berlin´s Indoor Designweihnachtsmarkt
Weihnachtsrodeo (the “Christmas Rodeo”) is back in its 10th year, featuring over 180 exhibitors in fashion, street-food, jewelry, design and art. This year, for the first time, the design market will be at Kühlhaus. In the past, the brick building of 1901 was used mainly for art exhibitions and fashion fairs. Now the five floors and over 3500 square meters are being staged for the first time as an indoor Christmas market with designers, street food, and music!
