The Alchemy of Thoughts and Feelings

It doesn’t take religion, philosophy or even curiosity to have questions about life. We’ve all had them at one point or another. Some of us already asked them as children, or later in school, others when they visited their first yoga retreat in India. They are about creation, existence, purpose, consciousness, and of course also about love.

It’s the pursuit of answers that keeps many of us going. They give sense to our life in a way. There are no real, concrete answers, rather fragments of knowledge and truth that we have to make sense of. Dealing with these questions is almost like a form of alchemy of thoughts and feelings.

With his new project Lights & Vessels theater maker Gal Naor (the progressive wave) is exploring these questions about life while tapping both into science and mysticism. In his piece that will play this weekend at Radialsysteme V he combines dance, performance, lecture and visual art and creates something that is incredibly beautiful and truly mind opening. In the course of the production we got a glimpse of the beautiful visuals he created that are almost like little chemistry experiments. We captured some fragments of his work and combined it with the most poignant lines from his script. The result is a series of animated GIFs that will hopefully inspire you to some thinking…

Science of Signs I: Lights & Vessels is a dance lecture performance by the progressive wave and the first part of a trilogy. Decoding a hidden coded-language into an acceptable target-language, this lecture-like solo piece written and performed by Israeli Sign-Language interpreter and choreographer, Gal Naor, aims to claim the relevance of Kabbalah wisdom to the secular world and uncover a comprehensive and thought-provoking approach towards its teachings.
