The Legendary Blitz Party in Berlin

The Legendary Blitz Party in Berlin

The famous Blitz party belongs to the very few that we have covered quite extensively and from the very beginning. When it started in 2010 it filled a gap in the Berlin nightlife and I am grateful for it. It became the party to dress up for and look your most spectacular – especially my camera loves that! In November of 2013 one of my favorite parties in Berlin celebrated its 3rd anniversary and – sadly – also its final dance. It was an amazing run with great parties and I am happy I was somehow part of it. A big thank you to the makers behind it for some wonderful nights on the dance floor. After the jump I collected my favorite photos from all the Blitz party that I attended to.

UPDATE: As a surprise come-back the Blitz Party is throwing a tribute party to the late music legend Prince with the Parade party happening on April 21, 2017 at the new location of Festsaal Kreuzberg featuring live performances of local talents including Snax, Ahmad Larnes (Schwarz Don’t Crack), Elyas Khan, Mad Kate and many more.

F.I.N.D. – My Terrorism is better than Yours

F.I.N.D. – My Terrorism is better than Yours

Europe in times of change shows that the old continent has a lot of rebels’ blood in their veins. The social and economic crisis is creating despair and protest especially in the Southern countries. But as in any period, big drama makes great drama – at least on stage. Young, fresh plays from around Europe will be presented at The Festival of International New Drama F.I.N.D. at the Schaubühne this month. From March16th to 24th the stage will be taken over by directors, actors and writers from all over Europe to present their work in Berlin for the first time. Read our recommendations after the jump.

After a being on hiatus for the past couple of month the infamous Blitz party celebrated its return at a new venue. After its former home Horst Kreuzberg had to close the party now took a test-drive at Bi Nuu which is inside the subway station Schlesisches Tor. It doesn’t look like it from the outside, but this place is huge! It seemed like a nice change of scenary for the excentric New Romantics synth party. Enjoy the impressions after the jump.

Just in case some of you have not noticed that we moved our weekly event guides away from the blog stream to a permanent events page with a proper listing we thought it would be good to direct you over there once more. There are some great things happening this weekend and in the following weeks. For instance, don’t miss the Rangleklods concert tomorrow, the AMD graduates fashion show on Saturday, the return of the Blitz party next week as well as the closing of the C|O at Postfuhramt (it will reopen later this year in West Berlin). Head over to our new events page for more.

If you look at the title of this post a little closer you will notice a small change. I’ve inserted “party” to our weekly event guide, as the party guide that normally comes out on Thursday is on hiatus. As companesation I will add a few more parties for the weekend into this guide and also add them during the week when more pops up on my horizon. So enjoy the new extended event and party guide after the jump.

Belin at Stroke

This is Berlin Art Week. I admit I dread those Berlin Something Weeks because that means a hell of a lot of events to go through for this guide and not enough time to go to all the things that sound interesting. But I think I’ve managed to sum up some interesting ones for you, though I will have to publish them in two stages starting with the ones earlier in the week. I would also like to refer you to some other art-related blogs and websites that will give you further insights and coverage: Castor & Pollux, Artfridge, ArtBerlin, Bpigs, Berlin Artparasites and artconnect Berlin. Have fun with all the art, but remember not to touch anything with your sticky fingers… The event guide – part 1 after the jump.

Blitz x Light Asylum Photos

Blitz x Light Asylum Photos

The Light Asylum concert at the Blitz party on Friday was once again awesome. I really love those guys! But my second highlight of that night was this amazing looking girl above. Among all the crazy glitter and colorful painted people she definately had the best hair and make-up. Enjoy the impressions of the Blitz party and the Light Asylum concert at Festsaal Kreuzberg after the jump.

Chalet

After such a busy week such as the last one I actually feel like not doing anything for the next 7 days. But of course leaving you without my weekly list of event  recommendations would not be fair. As I have so many photo sets still to prepare for the next days I will have to keep myself short this week.

On Tuesday bloggette and DJane Oh-Sophia is hosting a special (free) dinner at Merkezi. Salon der Alchemisten is a new party with live music taking place this Wednesday at Chalet, the new club inside former Heinz Minki that is now owned by the former Bar25 owners. On Thursday the HBC opens the big group exhibition Do It Again. Also, Stevie Hanley is having a book launch with an exhibition and live concert by Alexander Geist. On Friday the LEAP is opening their 4th edition of performance night Body Controlled. If you didn’t dare to take your crazy outfit out for fashion week, then maybe do it at the Blitz party. On Saturday London-based queer party Gutterslut is coming back to Berlin to haunt the Sisyphos with their big trannies.

This week is also the best time to visit the design schools here in Berlin, as they are all having an open house where they present the work of their students. UdK is open from Thursday to Sunday. The HTW is having their Werkschau from Friday to Saturday. And the Weißensee School is celebrating the opening of their exhibition of students work on Friday evening. The exhibition will continue until July 29th. Read on…
