Our new guest author Anabel will share her Berlin discoveries with you every once in a while. Follow her stroll through the concrete jungle:
It does happen relatively rarely that I find myself on a tiny rooftop balcony instead of the movie theater that I actually planned on visiting. With a bottle of lime beer in my hand and an excellent view of a merry-go-round.
But last Sunday I was reminded once again that I do live in Berlin – and that, around here, nothing should strike you as a surprise. So if you happen to be looking for the cinema ‘Sputnik,’ you will find the hidden entrance to it in a backyard’s backyard. That the stairs shoot five floors high and that there is no reliably functioning elevator shouldn’t raise any eyebrows, either. And that, upon reaching the upper floor, a glowing red little world with tiny balconies opens up unexpectedly should actually be considered logical – Berlin, you know.

Berlin is a place where people can live out all their dreams. Not just one, all of them. Here you have Burlesque dancer doing a Hip-Hop party, models doing DJ sets, DJs designing books and what not. There is no limit. The events after the jump.
Even though my computer broke and my iPhone got stolen (again!) I somehow survived this weekend of being disconnected and managed to put another event guide together for you this week. And once again it’s quite the colorful mix of parties, alternative movie screenings and exhibitions. The events after the jump.
This week is hardcore in many ways. A documentary festival movie (that’s hardcore if you prefer romcoms), a modern dance piece (that’s hardcore if you prefer going to the movies), a fashion fatwalk (no beauties and no skinny models here!), and a cabaret of art and hardcore fetish (that is hardcore probably for everyone…). The hardcore events (and some softcore as well) after the jump.
Awww, that was one lovely party! Actually one of the best I have been to in a long time and I’m not saying that because we were co-hosting it. Last night’s Valentine’s Day Special of the weekly Cinéma club night at the HBC Kino was an explosion of red heart shaped ballons, pop music and the funnest crowd you would want to have at a party.
The Glory Kissing Hole wall (my invention by the way) seemed to be particularily fun, and that not only for horny singles (Murray) but also for horny couples, hehe… I was especially charmed by a cute hand made Valentine’s card by my friend Vivian – super sweet. The impressions (with some animated fun!) after the jump. As they are a bit more than usual I spread them over 2 pages, so you’ll have to click on the second page to see the rest!
James Franco: Actor & Artist
This guide comes a little late as I had a massive hangover on Sunday, but better late then not at all. This week we have quite a mixed programm, ranging from dirty dancing, serious eating, and hollywood stars as artists. Read on for this week’s menu after the jump.
This week is on the one hand dominated by all the events related to the 11th Club Transmediale festival for electronic and experimental music and on the other with a handful of very promising looking exhibitions opening. But before we go all artsy and experimental on your ass, we’ll kick off the week with a lot of fun at Cinéma with the It Boys… The events after the jump.
Now that Fashion Week is history we can take a look at other things again! For instance: art. And there are a few things going on here toward the weekend. Take a look after the jump.
The Fashion Week edition of the Cinéma party last Monday was an even bigger blast then the opening two weeks ago. Maybe because everyone was already in the fashion mood. Or maybe because of the special guests: the Rio girls, the new girl band of Bonnie Strange, Jackie Hide and Marie Nasemann (that should have been my name!). They were not only nice to look at, but also very sweet and charming. The teaser of their new music video Neon Lights looks really promising, and I’m excited to see the full video by the end of next week. More impressions of the party after the jump.
Mind Gardens, Mutations and R/evolution
Finally there are enough events going on again in Berlin again to able to put together the weekly eventguide. The last few weeks were so empty due to the holidays. This week we are starting strong with another edition of the great new Cinéma party before it get’s very arty toward the end of the weeks with many cool exhibitions and art parties. After the jump you’ll find all the events.
