Berlin Fashion Week – Day 1: Fashion, Porn & Parties

Dandy Diary Fashion Porn Film Launch

So, the first day of Berlin Fashion Week was already pretty exciting. It started with the premiere of the Fashion Porn film of our fellow bloggers from Dandy Diary in a small sex shop and cinema in Kreuzberg. The location itself was quite the attraction with all these trashy sex toys and nasty porn. The film really surprised me with a clever concept and a well done execution. It’s sexy and the showcased fashion is really well selected. You can take a look for yourself here. The photos of the premiere after the jump as well as impressions from the opening of the NUDE Pop-Up Shop, the Dandy Diary & LesMads Party at Flamingo and the good old projektGalerie Fashion Week Party at HBC.

The Weekly Event Guide

Lionel Williams

Of course this week there is much more going on besides Fashion Week. As the BFW guide took so much of my time I will keep this one a little shorter than usual. Also this is going to be my last Weekly Event Guide in a while. As I am going on a long trip I won’t have time to keep you up to date until March. So my friend Anna-Lena from artfridge is taking over for the next six weeks giving you the new Weekly Art Guide in place of the normal event guide. For all events other than art please check into Suz’s Thursday party guide and on our Facebook page. Have a look at the non-fashion-related events of this week after the jump.

Helloooo 2012. We were thinking a lot if we should do a 2011 recap or a 2012 forecast. But, frankly I’ve seen quite enough of these on the big wide interdolly and I want to spare you yet another. So let’s get 2012 rolling with our event of the first week. We have the usual mix of art, movies, parties and other opportunities for a fun night after the jump.

GIF. ME. BERLIN. Opening Party Photos

GIF. ME. BERLIN. Opening

I can’t tell you how happy I am how the whole GIF. ME. BERLIN. exhibition project has been going so far. So many people came to the opening on Wednesday at HBC and the responses to our little installation was really great. On the next day the online exhibition went live in our virtual gallery and at the smart urban stage magazine and I think our GIFs really look amazing together.

At the night of the exhibition there was one feeling that was quite strong for me (apart from the relief that we have made it all happen): Gratitude! I’m so grateful for all the help and support I got for this project. So I would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone.

First of all a big thank you to the smart urban stage magazine who made it at all possible for this to be a live event. Secondly the .HBC, especially Nico, who was once again an awesome host and supporter of my idea. Then I would like to thank all of the 12 photographers, artists and designers who submitted amazing GIFs! And my dear exhibition team Lia, Claudio and Nathan, you were great! And also our helpers Archer, Jesus, Filipe, Dina and Christophe. My sister Susanne for her awesome cupcakes and finger food. Absolut for their delicious flavoured vodka. Crap = Good for bringing their mechanical GIF Player and Loopcam for hosting our GIF Photobox (the results you can see here). And last but not least all of you people who came to the opening, checked out the online exhibition and wrote about it in your publications. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

GIF. ME. BERLIN. – The Animated GIF Exhibition

GIF. ME. BERLIN.

It has somehow become a little bit of a tradition for us to do an event for the Christmas. This year we have a very special gif(t) for our readers: A big group exhibition of animated GIFs titled GIF. ME. BERLIN.

Animated GIFs have turned into quite a movement on blogs and tumblrs all over the internet this year. With our animated party photos we also had a lot of fun with this old and dusty image format that was developed in 1987 as the first digital file format for color images.

On December 14th we are taking the animated GIF out of the internet and put it into a live exhibition at the .HBC Kino. We asked 11 talented Berlin-based photographers and artists to show us and our collaborating media partner smart urban stage their vision of the future in the form of an animated GIF. The results are as diverse and impressive as the artists themselves.

At the event we will not only show you the artwork, but we will also pamper you with drinks by Absolut Vodka, our famous delicious cupcakes and fingerfood and music by DJs Eliza Foxxx and Hara Katsiki. And as a special treat we will give you the chance to turn into an amazing GIF yourself in the GIF Photo Box. A little preview of the exhibition, the full line-up of photographers and artists, and all the details after the jump.

Blown away by a Nordic Wind

Nya Rampen

I am quite in love with Scandinavian design, fashion and interiors. But I never got the chance to learn more about their perfomance art scene. Today the Nordwind Festival starts at Volksbühne. So, I finally get  the chance to get rid of this culture lack in my head.  Recommendations for specific parts of the festival will be done when I have actually see any of the perfomances. But for now I hope you will check out the program and perhaps also dance at the opening party tonight at HBC.

Creepy Partyguide

Bloody girl at Halloween Haunted House

Get out that spooky dress, all the fake blood and storm the only proper decoration shop we got in this little town: Halloween approaches! And why do we celebrate Halloween? Because the Americans told us? Actually in order to get rid of the creatures of hell who are heading to earth by the time the dark period of the year begins. In this very night we dress like them, so they can’t get hold of us, can’t grab us in the dark of the night. Remember this if you planned to leave the house without a costume, mate. Halloweenie and unhalloweeni parties after the jump:
