Nobuyoshi Araki is one of Japan’s most important photographers. He became popular and controversial with his provocative nude photographies, some of them still being censored in his home country. His most famous model must have been Bjork, who he photographed for her album Telegram in 1996.

This Friday the Jablonka Gallery opens an exhibition of Araki with 100 photographs of his Kimbaku series. What looks like bondage to us is an embrace of a woman’s beauty to him. More photos and details after the jump. Click to enlarge.
