We already liked Booka Shade before, but after last year’s MELT! festival we were convinced that they are the GODS of the dancefloor. It must have been the highlight of the festival and everybody was talking about it. So if you are a fan of their music, too, I have good news to announce. Three by the count of it:
First of all they will reprise at this year’s MELT! festival and rock every other act into the ground. Secondly, their new album The Sun And The Neon Light will be out on May 23rd and, for those of you who can’t wait until July to see them live, they will play here in Berlin at Lido on June 5. Read on for more pictures and album infos.
What I always appreciated about Booka Shade records were the spooky atmospheric tracks that they embedded between their club tracks and dance hymns. This is something you’ll definately find on the new album again with tracks like the opener Outskirts and the title song The Sun And The Neon Lights. There’s just something about them that always brings me into this creative mood.
When it comes to the dancefloor the country-esque Dusty Boots, the first single release Planetary and the probable festival burner Charlotte are our favorites. We do not care so much about all the vocal tracks, though. I never really understood why a lot of cool electronic music acts take that turn at some point. In most cases the music doesn’t really benefit from it.
All in all The Sun And The Neon Light is a solid and worthy third album for Booka Shade and we can’t wait to hear our favorites live on June 5 and in July at MELT!
