Inverted Berlin Sphere by Olafur Eliasson

Inverted Berlin Sphere, Studio Olafur Eliasson

I have seen this impressive object a few years back at an exhibition here in Berlin. I can’t quite remember if it was at the Hamburger Bahnhof or at this exhibition at the former Palast der Republik. Anyway, I remember it quite fondly. I’m not sure if it is okay to call it a lamp, but just to be on the safe side I’ll refer to it as a piece of art. It’s by the icelanding artist Olafur Eliasson who lives and works here in Berlin and in Copenhagen. His works mainly evolve around the themes of natural phenomena like light, water and reflection. He just published a beautiful book at Taschen where I took the above photo from. More excerpts and a shopping link after the jump.
