An old House needs a Painting

For a long time I was more than just a member of the audience of the Volksbuehne. So I am kind of nostalgic when I think about its closing for the next half a year for restauration. On the other hand I’m really glad that one of my favorite theaters will re-open in April: The Prater at Kastanienallee. Additionally, they will build a giant amphitheater in front of the old lady. It will be the stage for some pieces from the antiquity that will get a new skin from Castorf and his entourage. To stay in touch online with the vibe of this intellectual institution the Volksbuehne now started its own blog. Don’t miss the goodbye parties on the weekend. More information after the jump.

On Saturday there will be a giant mash up of all the successful pieces of the past season, including Diktatorengatinnen and Berlin Alexanderplatz, just to mention a few. On Sunday there will be a closing concert featuring Kante, Ghost Bees and The Aim Of Design Is To Define Space. Modeselektor and Apparat + Skate will provide some dance grooves on the decks.
