“Too much importance and reward is given to pop stars, sports people, actors and the like,” explains British jewellery designer Kali Arulpragasam, the creative mind behind Superfertile, “the real superstars of our world are the unsung heroes whose work is everywhere and largely taken for granted. It’s as if their work shines so brightly we are blinded to the brilliant people behind these inventions.”
Her new collection takes the spotlight away from pop icons and gives it to people who have really contributed something of big value to everyone’s life, like inventing the personal computer, the world wide web, the mobile phone, the water purifier, the 3-point-seatbelt and many other things we could no longer live without.
These massive necklaces of gold and silver heads were one of the first designs we spotted and loved at the London Fashion Week Exhibition last month. Apart from its very interesting and unique appeal we just love the message behind it. Find out who the inventors are whose genius heads have been processed in this collection and see some more images after the jump.
