When the batteries of my external flash run out it often happens that the flash doesn’t go off when I shoot in continues mode. This causes the diaphragm to stay open very long as the camera seeks for enough light. Especially in clubs these little accidents produce some really cool light effects, some of which remind me of the art I have seen at the Lighter exhibition by Wolfgang Tillmans a while back.
