Put your hearts on the street
Was it me, recently writing about bad weather and a summer hole? Not my fault if you believe all I am saying. After all this is not a weather forecast and I am no oracle!! Parties after the jump.

Rubbish Fairy
If you read as many fairytales as I did you end up believing you’re living in one yourself. And even if Berlin is not really the perfect scenery for a Grimm fairytale movie, your fantasy has ways to discover even in a cement monster like Berlin a magical kingdom. But it seems that the Berliners have their own ways to end the stories. Here the princes prefer having cupcakes and coffee instead of saving the sleeping beauty from the dragon. And oops – no, Rapunzel, I can’t get you out of the tower, I have to sleep with all the seven dwarfs in the darkroom of the Berghain.
So the most important thing is to get your role in the story straight. For myself I have decided to give up my princess life in my nice castle and return to my true nature. Believe me, being the witch in town helps avoiding to get eaten up by some dragon or get dumped for cupcakes. So if you want to join my witch club leave me note. Free lesson in all kinds of curses included. If you need more to get into my witch mood I recommend you the trash-art-exhibition Urban Witches Not Bitches at the Neurotitan Gallery. More pictures and info after the jump. And don’t forget you can ride the U-Bahn and still think you are on a broom.
I thought it would be quite appropriate to quote the title of one of my favourite movies for this post. We’re excited to announce an audio-visual extravaganza that hits play tomorrow. Videokills presents its first International Video Festival 2009 at our favourite swimming pool party haunt Stattbad Wedding. Fast forward for more details.
Last Saturday the Sparkle Army came marching into Monster Ronson’s and dropped their bombs of glitter and sequins. Events of such sparkling nature with such shimmering individuals are far too rare in this city and I’m glad there is going to be more of this soon. More impressions of the party after the jump.
I have been working with Facebook now for a couple of months and I’m really happy how it helps me to connect with bloggers, party makers, shops, artists, co-authors and readers of this blog. As I am really curious about who my readers actually are I have decided to open up an iHeartBerlin.de Facebook group. You are all invited to join! For now I will be using the group to raffle off guestlist spaces for parties and events and to keep you posted about things of a more exclusive nature. But I’m sure in the future other useful things will come up. If you decide to add any of us as a friend, please use the personal note field to let us know that you are a reader of iHeartBerlin.de! Have a good weekend y’all!

I haven’t been wearing a watch for quite some time now. But when I saw these great pieces from Swedish watch maker Triwa I thought I might actually change my mind. These Rolex-inspired plastic watches come in a variety of colors including red, blue, yellow, purple, orange and white. So one for every color based outfit. And with 89-95 EUR they are even affordable, wuhoo! I love it! Find out where to get them and see some more models and close up shots after the jump.
The Whitest Boy Alive at Tape
Summer vacation in Berlin – meaning only a few parties, but those that take place are solid gold! You can show off your tan, but beware to show your awful sunburn, we beg you! Sparkle-space alarm and birthday bash on Saturday. Do you think, I could go to Picknick on Saturday still wearing my sparkle outfit? I’m not sure… hmm. The parties after the click.
The Show is over. It’s been a long time awaited, the Berlin Festival at Airport Tempelhof, this unique but in fact contentious location. Myself, I had to recover first before writing down what I experienced at the Festival. After coming home from work on the first day of the Festival, I took a quick shower and remade my make-up before rushing to Tempelhof, just in time to see Pete(r) Doherty and the two dancers he brought with him.
Pete, the ingenious but always wasted former lead singer of The Libertines and former model predator. Well, I rather heard his voice than seeing him in person. Why is it that all those gargantuan guys position themselves directly in front of me? I was highly surprised at Doherty’s clear and unmistakeable voice, singing all the songs in a MTV unplugged manner, giving not only me heebie-jeebies. Later, a friend of mine met him in the backstage bathroom where Pete(r) didn’t seem to be as clear as his voice sounded shortly before, he just was tumbling and mumbling and obviously very drunk…

So, last Sunday I enjoyed the marvellous, legendary Birthday of the Bar 25… what a finale! Everybody was supposed to “arrive in white and leave colored”. It was a blast, especially when they played Sesame Street music along with the confetti bash. And it looks like there’s nothing to be done to save this beloved place… they will close in the end of august. I will keep this last impression forever! See the full confetti action after the jump.
A few months back Danish artist Lars Bjerre presented a massive selection of his work in his first solo show here in Berlin. I was not only amazed by the size of his artworks and the amazing space he was showing them in, but also by his versatility that goes far beyond what you can see here in my posts. I know a lot of you went to see his critical take on society, so I’m sure you will be interested to hear that this Thursday he will open his second show at Komet Gallery in Mitte. More art and details after the jump.
