I Killed My Mother

In the first third of the Franco-Canadian film I Killed My Mother all you will be thinking is: How fucking annoying is this kid?! But while the intimate family drama progresses you start to understand why this unbarebly dramatic character of Hubert is the way he is. I would call this a very special relationship to a mother and it makes me once again appreciate my own family for being quite nice and normal (in a very Northern way).

I was a bit skeptical about this movie at first, especially because I don’t like a lot of fighting and shouting and hysteric behaviour. But it’s really smart and well acted. I’m very impressed with 21 year old writer, director and actor Xavier Dolan who put a lot of autobiographical elements into the story. Brilliant! Stills, trailer and play times in Berlin after the jump.
