In some parts of the world the Carnival is the most beautiful holiday of the year. Whether in Venice, Rio or Cologne – throughout the world the colours of the costumes and confetti evoke dreams and phantasies of both children and grown-ups. A very traditional version of Carnival is celebrated in New Orleans where the colourful and playful Mardi Gras is taking place.
The understated Berliner might not be the type for the Carnival as we Germans know it from Cologne, but they sure like it crazy and they like to go wild. So for them to not miss out on all the fun Southern Comfort is presenting the NoLa Pearls event at Direktorenhaus. Great contemporary art from the beautiful New Orleans by young artists Raul De Nieves, Erik Kiesewetter, Rachel DeTrinis and Aubrey Edwards is showcased in the exhibition rooms at Am Krögel 2 in Berlin-Mitte. The eleven winners of the design competition “Southern Comfort Creative Exchange” will be presented here as well.
Of course the art will not be enough for the hungry Berliners. Starting at 21h there will be a Mardi Gras party with free drinks by Southern Comfort that will raise the roof of the Direktorenhaus. The hot rhythms of DJs Tobias Rapp (R’n’B) and Dejoe (Hip Hop) will have you dance all night long. And if you want to fully immerse into the Carnival you can also get a matching Mardi Gras styling there. The address and more pictures of the art after the jump.
