The Week, again

FINALLY the summer is back. After last week was uncomfortably cold we can finally go out in the sun again! So it’s time for hanging out in front of cafes and in parks enjoying every ray of sun. But of course there are a few other things to do. Look for this weeks events after the jump.

Monday

Shameless/Limitless presents the Handsome Furs and Basketball live at West Germany, Skalitzerstr. 133, starting at 21h.

Designer Katja Daugaard is showing two fashion films and presenting a few pieces from her new collection at .HBC, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9, starting at 20h. After that at 21h the film Echoes by Ivalo Frank is screened.

Thursday

The Marimekko store is hosting a workshop called Surrur from Thursday to Saturday (11-17h) where everyone is invited to sew their own little projects based on the Surrur guide book with the fabrics of Marimekko. Alte Schönhauser Straße 42. Cute!

Friday

The Strychnin Gallery in Friedrichshain is opening the international charity group show The Enchanted Forest. More then 30 artists are showcased here about the topic of the destructions of the world’s forests and its consequences. 10% of the proceeds will be donated to organizations that help stop the destruction of the forests. The opening starts at 19h at Boxhagenerstr. 35. The show runs until June 5th.

Saturday

Dada Post at Nordbahnstr. 10 is opening a double exhibtion with the first Berlin solo show of Sadie Weis and the group show Geisterschatten: “During the tenth anniversary year of the September 11th attacks of 2001 in New York City, Dada Post hosts an exhibition that brings to Berlin a group of artists who lived and worked in this Lower Manhattan (Tribeca) neighborhood, during the 9/11 attacks, and who are still living and working there today. Tribeca is the acronym for: Triangle Below Canal Street. Which was literally in the shadows of the former World Trade Center towers.” The opening starts at 19h and the show runs until June 5th, 2011.

Tonight is the Lange Buchnacht (night of books) at the Oranienstr. in Kreuzberg. There is a whole bunch of readings going on all over the street. We recommend the reading of Julia Zange who is reading from her book “Die Anstalt der besseren Mädchen” at Voo Store, Oranienstr. 24 at 21h.

Sunday

Sing Blackbird is having another one of their fleamarkets with vegan brunch! Sanderstr. 11, 12:30h.

Honk! Magazine is celebrating the release of its 3rd issue – the Diva issue – at Soju bar, Skalitzerstr. 36, 20h.
