After four years of Spex Max Dax is now the brand new editor-in-chief of the electronic music magazine Electronic Beats. He is a busy man: beside his work as a journalist he is also a painter and photographer. For my 5 1/2 questions he revealed his best cake recipe and talks about Italien adult comics. 1. Is shallow literature objectionable?
No. I like to read BILD. But sometimes also spontaneously Ovid’s „Metamorphose“ or Joseph Conrad’s „Heart of Darkness“ on my iPhone in the subway: “Anything approaching the change that came over his features I have never seen before, and hope never to see again. Oh, I wasn’t touched. I was fascinated. It was as though a veil had been rent. I saw on that ivory face the expression of sombre pride, of ruthless power, of craven terror — of an intense and hopeless despair. Did he live his life again in every detail of desire, temptation, and surrender during that supreme moment of complete knowledge? He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision — he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath: ‘The horror! 2. Did you ever read the Playboy Magazin on the loo?
Believe it or not: no. But there are these amazing Italien adult comics in black and white. You can buy them in every train station, shrink-wrapped, per kilo price. The best thing about it: the protagonists spreak Italien.
3. Is it possible to be to old for something sometimes?
I don’t know. I’m only 41. How about couchsurfing? Then again: Why not dare to go on an odyssey through the guest beds of the world with 70 years.
4. Facebook or Google+?
Definitely both!
5. What would you give Helge Schneider as a birthday present?
A nice birthday cake:
Gateau au vin
3 cups of flour
1 cup of brown sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 baking powder
grated lemon skin of one lemon
-> mix everything together
3 eggs
1 cup of olive oil
1 cup of white wine
-> mix everything till smooth
-> put in a greased cake pan and bake 45 minutes at 190° C
