About a year ago I stumbled into an exhibition that I found really fascinating: In a small gallery in Mitte a large number of different caps were on display. But not normal caps, they were all creatively altered. Some where artistically painted on, some were extended by sculptures others completely changed in their shape.
Just today I received an invitation for the follow-up event of this exhibition by cap company New Era. The invite was in the shape of a small cap and a pen. That’s one hell of a creative invitation! But I might need more than just a pen to compete with these caps…
Introducing is the title of this creative challenge where designers and artists worldwide where called to create their own version of the New Era cap. The results are as amazing as what I have seen last year. A few weeks ago the winner of the challenge was announced: Lina Al Amoudi’s hat construction out of oriental fabrics and laser cut wood is definately one of the most impressive pieces and the first price of 10.000 GBP to start her career is well deserved. You can check it out yourself along with all the other 79 design caps this Friday and Saturday at DNA Gallery at Auguststr. 20 in Mitte. The details, an interesting video about the project and a few of the exhibited caps after the jump.
