Cinéma de Mode: Ember – A Fashion Horror Film

Cinéma de Mode: Ember – A Fashion Horror Film

I found this exciting fashion film in the brand new fashion film section of Not Just A Label. It seems to me, that directors Marcin Kempski and Maciek Dąbrowski have set foot on a new genre: Fashion Horror Movies. Their film Ember for the label Konrad Parol is inspired by one of the most gruesome scenes in The Silence Of The Lambs, and it really is as creepy as the Hollywood movie. Get your scare after the jump.

Win tickets for Willy Moon’s concert at Berghain

Win tickets for Willy Moon’s concert at Berghain

The rock’n’roll of the early sixties, Film Noir, Bo Diddley, dubstep, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Afrika Bambaataa and The Ramones: one would never guess that there is anything that these artists and aesthetics have in common. Willy Moon, a 21 year old newcomer from New Zealand, managed to combine all these influences in his music, which can be described as neo rock’n’roll. On Monday, April 23, he plays his first concert in Germany at the Berghain – which is not the worst location for a debut. Check out the music after the jump and take your chance to win two tickets for the show.

How nice that there is finally a festival bringing big parts of North American and Canadian Camp and Queer Life experts into town. The Hebbel am Ufer hosts a three day multidisciplinary festival called Camp/Anti-Camp: A Queer Guide to Everyday Life that you  should not miss. The Exhibition of the Loser

The Exhibition of the Loser

How many people do you know who are trying to apply to an art school like UDK or Weißensee? I feel like I know at least 100 of those young artists who tried  to enter one on of the prestigious art academies Berlin has to offer.  Even if most of them got rejected, some of them are currently really successful artist, stage designers, photographers and what not. On the other hand I know a lot of graduated artists who are working as bartenders.  I always realized that success in art academies has nothing to do with financial succes. THIS IS FOR LOSERS is a project in Berlin that has set itself the task of give attention to unconsidered artists. They are looking for artists of all kinds that were rejected this or last year at Berlin’s art schools. Find out more about their project and how you can apply on their facebook page.
