The Berlin Film Society always puts on amazing filmic events that are more than just the film and certainly out of the ordinary. In this spirit one could only expect something super fabulous for their last event of the year. And they didn’t disappoint; this upcoming Saturday Berlin Film Society presents Max Ophüls masterpiece Lola Montés at the dreamy former silent film theater Delphi in Weissensee. There will be an Electro Swing After Party with Justin Fidèle after the screening and drinks before and we are giving away a couple of tickets…
The name Max Ophüls is known even to those who don’t know any of his plenty films. The Max Ophüls Price in his hometown Saarbrücken is actually one of the most important prices for young German filmmakers today. And the famous patron of the price was very successful until he died young in 1957.
The film that the Berlin Film Society chose for next Saturday is Lola Montés. The film is loosely based on the real life of the dancer and actress Lola Montez and her multiple affairs with various influential men. It was Ophüls last film and although it wasn’t a massive success back in its days it’s a magical piece of film and highly acclaimed today. The costumes and the music carry you to a different world and I’m sure the after party will keep you in that special place all night.
Leave a comment below until Wednesday at noon and you might win one of the 2×2 tickets we are giving away!
Good Luck! Find the Facebook event with additional information here.
