This is Berlin Art Week. I admit I dread those Berlin Something Weeks because that means a hell of a lot of events to go through for this guide and not enough time to go to all the things that sound interesting. But I think I’ve managed to sum up some interesting ones for you, though I will have to publish them in two stages starting with the ones earlier in the week. I would also like to refer you to some other art-related blogs and websites that will give you further insights and coverage: Castor & Pollux, Artfridge, ArtBerlin, Bpigs, Berlin Artparasites and artconnect Berlin. Have fun with all the art, but remember not to touch anything with your sticky fingers… The event guide – part 1 after the jump.

This week is all in the name of a bloody sacrifice! Karfreitag and Easter is coming up on the weekend, which means for us four work-free days (ideally, we know how that never really works out…). But before that we have movie screenings, free dinners, store openings, art exhibitions, magazine launches, naked performances and more, before everything culminates (ideally) in our annual iHeartBerlin Easter Special that we are doing with and at food gallery Merkezi. Check out the events after the jump.

Most of the time we are used to taking. Take a photo, take some time, take a piss, take the cake, take that. How about this week we do a little giving. And what giving feels better than one that includes taking also? Take a piece of art, give money to charity for instance. Swell! Take this, as well as short films, concerts, gallery openings, workshops, parties and much more, as usual after the jump!

On Friday a new group exhibition with the title Consciences and Frontiers will open at the Alte Post in Neukölln. 16 young international artists will showcase their work about humans and their inner and outer frontiers. On board are also Danish artist Lars Bjerre and Berlin-based street artist Anton Unai whom we’ve both recently written about here on iHeartBerlin.de. Some more examples and details after the jump.

A few months back Danish artist Lars Bjerre presented a massive selection of his work in his first solo show here in Berlin. I was not only amazed by the size of his artworks and the amazing space he was showing them in, but also by his versatility that goes far beyond what you can see here in my posts. I know a lot of you went to see his critical take on society, so I’m sure you will be interested to hear that this Thursday he will open his second show at Komet Gallery in Mitte. More art and details after the jump.

Just recently an interesting exhibition was brought to my attention that I would like to share: Danish artist Lars Bjerre presents a very critical view on society. In his paintings he often depicts humans and pigs. As if this alone would not be some kind of a message he places them in absurd and paradox situations that symbolize humans on the search for their identity. The artist’s first solo exhibition in Germany will open this Friday here in Berlin. More infos and images after the jump.
