Lollapalooza – From Chicago to Berlin

Lollapalooza – From Chicago to Berlin

Deichkind

Next month the internationally renowned Lollapalooza festival will take place at the Tempelhofer Airport as the first European edition. 28 years ago the festival started off in Chicago – Chile, Brazil and Argentina joined a few years later. From September 12-13 you can enjoy live performances from various international artists such as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Libertines and Muse or to the local heroes Seeed, Deichkind and Beatsteaks, have some nice food and enjoy many different activities.

We are very much looking forward to this selection of great artists and especially to the wild mix of different kinds of music. At Lollapalooza you can dance in step, enjoy slow beats with tears in your eyes and just have a good time with your friends. Since the Berlin Festival is no longer taking place at the Flughafen Tempelhof, it’s a big pleasure to get the chance to have a look at the premises of the airport – which has become a really rare possibility.

More about the Lollapalooza festival after the jump.

A Special Evening at Eins44 in Neukölln

A Special Evening at Eins44 in Neukölln

In the Spring of 2014 a new restaurant opened its doors in Berlin’s trendy district Neukölln. The eins44 is located on Elbestrasse close to lively Weserstraße in the second backyard inside an old distillery. The industrial charm of the place has been preserved and integrated into the interior design quite authentically. Every detail has been selected with love and tells its own story.

The culinary concept is a modern twist of French and German cooking. The menu changes every two weeks and is always made with seasonal ingredients combining the advantages of the native German kitchen with the finesse of the French cuisine. The food is everything but ordinary – with every creative dish you get an introduction to what is served and you learn about ingredients you wouldn’t even have imagined ever being on your plate. Unique variations such as artichoke tartare with parmesan cream and tarragon emulsion will make your tastebuds tingle with joy.

If you are looking for a unique dinner experience for sophisticated palates the eins44 is definitely worth a visit. During the week they also have a more easy going and German style lunch menu. Enjoy some impressions after the jump!

An Aperitivo a Berlino on the Roof

An Aperitivo a Berlino on the Roof

Summer is in full bloom, and finally you can enjoy the weekends in the warm sun. What could be better than to get yourself an aperitif after a stressful week and experience the Italian feeling?

Traditionally in Italy, wonderful late afternoons are spent with friends in a bar, drinking a cold Negroni and eating delicious snacks. For such offerings we already introduced you to the Bar Milano in Berlin Mitte and now we want to expand on our recommendations and share a way for a sparkling start to Saturdays.

The event series Aperitivo a Berlino ties in with the beloved Italian tradition. It all started with two boys from Berlin who invited some friends and acquaintances to Sale e Tabacchi and had a great evening of drinking various aperitifs and eating small Italian appetizers. Now as the Italian afternoon is becoming increasingly popular, the Aperitivo has been moving around to several places such as Bar Milano (on vacation till September) and currently takes place on a wonderful rooftop on Linienstrasse in Berlin Mitte. See more details and have a look at the pictures from last time after the jump.
