Land of Sisyphos

Sisyphos Berlin Open Air

The first open air of the season was a sysiphos – hit. While for some of us to stay on top of the facebook feed is a giant sisyphos work, for others it is to find the right place to dance the Sunday afternoon away. My good friends informed me soon enough that the Light and Love – Party was more of a Full and Mainstream – thing. So we decided to take a train to the land of Sisyphos. And while giant titans danced on the walls, chicken, dogs, kids and humans moved to the beat in the sand. A sisyphos – dreamland of pleasure, giving the impression of possibly becoming the next Bar 25. Or is this blasphemy? More beautiful pictures  of sisyphos berlin after the jump.

Everybody goes to Kottywood

Gentrification is a strange Dilemma. You want to have cool and interesting art and events going on around your neighbourhood, but at the same time you know that these are the things making your neighbourhood more expensive and a lucrative investement. Even if the whole Kreuzberg area is gentrificated already, there seems to be a last place which held up the Kreuzberg spirit. There are so many interesting things going on right know inside and around the giant Kreuzbergcenter that I made a little summary. You will find it after the jump (in German).

.HBC Restaurant Re-Opening

.HBC Restaurant Re-Opening

photos by Glamcanyon

Last Thursday the .HBC invited everyone to the re-opening of their restaurant and bar. I had heard so many good things about their kitchen it was about time for me to try it out. The new interior is really beautiful and makes the whole place even cooler then it was before. New bar, new floor, new rooms for the restaurant and great food! The It Boys threw the after party in the pinkroom that was filled with styrofoam flakes. It was a lot of fun jumping around in it. But not so fun anymore when I lost my bag and sweater in it and had to go under looking for it while everyone else was jumping on top of me. Impressions of the food, the restaurant and the party by Katja after the break.

The Exberliner Music Showcase

aaa-claude

My Name Is Claude

Not only expats know and like the Exberliner magazine, that feeds you with information around Berlin-and no German knowledge is required. Basically like us, but of course, we are more wicked.  Since a while the Exberliner mag has a music night called Wednesdays at Kaffe Burger and by introducing you this weird institution of Berlin nightlife, that hosts a promising music night this week, I indeed kill two birds with one stone. More after the jump:

Helene, her Axolotl and me at Tresor!

dsc_0077

Honestly, I didn’t want to got there. To the new Tresor. It would be sad, so very very sad, visiting a club that was part of your teenager life, a place where you spend endless nights, met friends for one night or longer. Some did stay, some of them I never saw again. All these memories..The last time I went to the old Tresor, I felt so weird, like a freak. The people had changed so much, they all seem to look the same and they didn’t like my looks, I could tell that. Too alternative to them. Where did all the good people go? The tolerant people I was used to hang out with, the people from the early days. Or was it me who had changed? I couldn’t figure out. However, when I was invited to the Axolotl Roadkill event, I thought I should have a look, I mean, after all these years..Axolotl Roadkill is a bestseller, written by the talented director-daughter Helene Hegemann, when she was only aged 16! I am everybodys best friend…

freischwimmer2004

If you are not on the guestlist at least you need a guestlist attitude. As it would be the most normal thing on the planet that your name is on that exclusive 30 names list. I tried at least as I went to the very special vernissage of Wolfgang Tillmans at the Panorama Bar last Friday. To get in I simply and very succesfully told the doorman that I was personally invited by Wolfgang himself. So to be bold sometimes works. If you want to know more about this artsy event you better read on in German! read more…

A Sunday at .HBC

Paris Suit Yourself at HBC

Last Sunday some people went to Panorama Bar. Others went to Paranormal Bar at HBC. Last ones were rewarded with a wonderful day and an amazing party. The restless Macaronic Duo invited to what I thought would be a lazy afternoon but turned out being a great party with cool music played by T Daance and Iljuscha, Hunnee and Finn Johannson. It started in the early afternoon with smooth music by the Macaronics and nice people having a good time. When the room filled up and it turned evening infamous Paris Suit Yourself heated up the crowd as you can see on the pictures after the jump.

Welcome to the Villa

Tilt! Party at Villa Club Berlin

Abandoned by the rest of the iHeartBerlin.de-Team I was out and about all by myself this weekend. Rushing through the cold and slippery streets of Berlin isn’t all that thrilling so I was more than happy about the warm welcome I received at the Villa, one of Berlin’s currently hottest party locations. And the name really is not misleading, because this house is quite amazing. It must have been the mansion of the owner of the old brewery Friedrichshoehe back in the days. High ceilings, archs, prim columns and stucco indecate quite a fancy past. Of course now it’s totally run down, fucked up and plastered with tags and street art. That’s just what Berlin does to it’s buildings. Read on for more impressions and lot’s of photos from the evening.
