A Guide to Priceless Restaurant Experiences in Berlin

photo: Shan Rahimkhan

Our restaurant guides are among the most popular features here on the blog and we love to come up with new themes and topics to curate the gastronomic gems of the city for your enjoyment. Among all our culinary guides, the most successful turned out to be the one with the most unusual restaurants – this seems to have been a particularly fun one, both for our readers and for us.

To give you something new in a similar spirit we have teamed up with MasterCard who have a really exciting program going on that is a perfect match for us. I’m sure you’re heard of the term “Priceless” in connection with MasterCard, which they use to cherish all those unique moments in our life that you just can’t put a price tag on. In continuation of this idea they initiated MasterCard® Priceless® Cities – a program that grants MasterCard® cardholders access to exclusive and “priceless” experiences in selected metropolises in the world – including Berlin, of course – and let’s them discover their cities in exciting new ways.

For our new guide we have chosen some of the most extraordinary restaurants that are part of the Priceless® Berlin program and that offer you an experience that goes way beyond a great meal in a nice ambience. Enjoy our selection of 8 priceless restaurant experiences in Berlin.

A Fashion Dinner at Shan’s Bistro

Shan’s Bistro is probably the restaurant with the most magnificent view in town. Located right at Gendarmenmarkt you overview both cathedrals, the fountain and the concert house. The beautiful square is one of the highlights of historic Berlin and it will make every bite you take at Shan’s even tastier.

To make things even more unique at Shan’s there is a special culinary event coming up during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. The Fashion Kitchen is a special event with Shan Rahimkhan himself and Michelin-starred chef Kolja Kleeberg who will do a live cooking, tasting and flying buffet and Berlin-based designer Michael Sontag presents some of his designs in a fashion show. If you are owner of a MasterCard you have the chance to make a reservation for this exclusive event here.

A Meet&Eat with a Celebrity Chef

Martha’s is one of the big stars of Berlin’s gastronomic scene right now thanks to the talents of the man in the kitchen: Manuel Schmuck. The young celebrity chef received two chef’s hats from Gault&Millau Deutschland 2016, and was named the gastronomical newcomer of the year by the “Berliner Meisterköche” and added to the “Top 30 Europe under 30” by Forbes Magazine. A visit to his restaurant in Schöneberg should be on the top of your list!

MasterCard customers will receive an extra special treatment as they can book an exclusive 5-course-menu topped off with a personal meet and greet with the celebrity chef himself.

An Exclusive Wine Degustation at Eins44

The Eins44 is one of the finest restaurants in the popular district of Neukölln. The slick, industrial interior makes for a great ambience for their creative dishes that are always made with seasonal ingredients combining the advantages of the native German kitchen with the finesse of the French cuisine.

On July 13th 2016 the exclusive wine degustation event “Weinmahleins” by tip Berlin presented by Priceless Berlin is taking place here inviting wine lovers to experience a first-class, five-course meal prepared by chef de cuisine Jonathan Kartenberg accompanied by a variety of excellent wines. Cheers!

A Mobile Dinner touring the Festival of Lights

Have you ever seen the “Fahrbar” Tram of the BVG? Well, there is actually a more luxurious version of this, that you probably never heard of. The Gourmet Liner is Berlin’s very own high-class rolling dinner experience offering exquisite menus that you can enjoy while cruising through the city. The VIP bus offers high comfort with great food and the best views.

For the annual Festival of Light spectacle in October, the Gourmet Liner has a special tour that goes by the most spectacular light installations of the festival. On the Priceless Berlin website you will find a special offer for this lighting tour of the Gourmet Liner.

A Picnic on a Vintage Paddleboat

The cafe and restaurant Mutter Lustig in the green district of Köpenick is a great itinerary for a weekend trip outside of the city center. They offer traditional German meals and big breakfast platters in a friendly and laid-back atmosphere directly at the water.

To offer something more than just food they also have a little pier with historic paddle boats. One of the Priceless Berlin offers is an expanded paddle boat ride with a full picnic basket on top. Definitely a nice way to spend your Sunday in the green outskirts of Berlin.

Mutter Lustig, Müggelheimer Str. 1, 12555 Berlin-Köpenick

Open: Mon-Fri 11-22h, Sat 10-24h, Sun 10-21h

A Dinner for Two in an Old Bus

The Café Pförtner in Gesundbrunnen is one of our favorite restaurants in Berlin. Surrounded by the artists and dance studios at Uferhallen and Uferstudios you will be right in the middle of the creative scene of the district. The set-up is quite unconventional inside the yard of a former garage of the BVG with one old bus hosting a part of the seating for the restaurant.

And as if a dinner for two inside an old bus wouldn’t be original enough, you’ll get the 2-course-menu for two for a special price with your MasterCard.

Open: Mon-Fri 9-23h, Sat 11-23h

French Cuisine at a Historic Charity School

The premise of our next restaurant is actually inside a class listed monument of Berlin – a former charity school. Now it’s called The Grand, inspired by grand hotels, and the entrepreneurs behind it have tried to maintain some of the historic charm that is still inside the walls of this amazing place. Their club restaurant serves French Cuisine inspired lunch and dinner and on special occasions they turn up the music for exclusive parties in the night.

As art of the Priceless Berlin offers you can spice up your lunch and dinner at The Grant with some complimentary extras.

The Grant, Hirtenstraße 4, 10178 Berlin-Mitte

Open: Mon-Fri 12-23h, Sat-Sun 18-24h

An Underwater Candlelight Dinner

Wouldn’t you love to dine like Arielle the little Mermaid? With the underwater candlelight dinner at SeaLife you’ll have your chance to something quite close to that. Have a private tour of the aquarium with the spectacular cylinder tank (the biggest one in the world) and finish off your tour with a surprise candlelight dinner for two underneath the water landscape surrounded by colorful fish.

Sounds like a Disney fairytale, but in fact is an exclusive experience offered on the Priceless Berlin website.
