A Berlin Utopia: An Optimistic Vision of Oberbaumbrücke

Today we want to share with you a very optimistic and cheerful piece of art that we hope will brighten your day a little as it did ours.

We already shared with you the work of Portuguese artist and architect Bruno Pinto da Cruz a while ago with our feature about his ISOMATIC pieces and in our guide about Portuguese Life in Berlin. He has now followed up with a splendid new Berlin-themed piece of his vivid ISOMATIC series that you need to see.

In vibrant, joyful colors he created an optimistic utopia based on the iconic Oberbaumbrücke, Berlin’s most beautiful bridge that connects the neighborhoods of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, by blending architectural drawings with artistic illustrations.

All the known landmarks are there: the cute brick towers of the bridge, the Universal building, the water promenade at Eastside Gallery, the Watergate club, the Cuvrystraße buildings. But added to that you will find the river Spree making a waterfall, little dreamy islands with whales and dolphins swimming around. You’ll find waterslides, hot air balloons, pools everywhere. And the streets are filled not only with happy people but dinosaurs, elephants and other animals. There are so much joy and fun in every corner – without any attempt at realism, this image still captures the essence of Berlin at its best.

If you love this piece of art as much as we do, you should get it as a limited signed print from the artist himself at his webshop starting at 11 EUR.

If you want to have a closer look at previous pieces from the series check out our story about it here.
