A New Year’s Eve Party for Families with Kids at The Playce

New Year’s Eve is coming up and everyone is all excited because it’s the first time in two years that official parties and events are happening again after the various pandemic lockdowns. We are certainly excited to hit the clubs again.

But there is one small but cute subgroup that unfortunately will have to stay home for New Year’s Eve once again: The kids! And isn’t that unfair? New Year’s Eve is historically really an adult kind of thing, isn’t it? The late hour of the main event, the booze, the firecrackers, the clubs – these are all not really kid-friendly things. It’s really unfair though because kids do sense that this is a special happening, yet one that many of them are excluded from.

I vividly remember one New Year’s Eve trip my parents took with me to Goslar when I was a pre-teen. They had booked an NYE dinner event in a fancy place for us, only to find out that it wasn’t allowed to bring kids. So I ended up staying in the hotel and having New Year’s Eve with myself in the hotel room. Even though I didn’t mind the idea at first and sent my parents off to have a good time, I did feel somewhat excluded once I heard the fireworks going off outside and everyone cheering with one another.

In comes: The Playce. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s the new name of the completely remodeled and rebranded former Potsdamer Platz Arkaden mall that quietly disappeared at the beginning of the pandemic and miraculously resurfaced just a few weeks ago with a new concept and design. They have reinvited the concept of a shopping mall turning it into an experience that revolves around food and fun.

For one of their first events, they decided to create a very special experience for families with kids giving them their first ever tailor-made New Year’s Eve: The Kids Noon Year’s Party. Happening at a kid-friendly time 12 hours before the actual turn of the year there will be all sorts of fun and surprises for the little one, such as make-up and airbrush tattoo sessions, crafts and painting stations, dancing, fun drinks and snacks, kids entertainers including a Spiderman, and even a countdown to 12 o’clock with a balloon rain. If that doesn’t sound like a party! And one other quite essential fact that I should not leave out is the following: The event is completely free which is such a family-friendly thing to do.

So if you have little ones, or have friends that do, pack them up on December 31 and bring them to The Playce for the Kids Noon Year’s Party! We wish you a happy New Year!
