Boy Meets Boy: A New Movie Taking Us Back to A Light-Hearted Pre-Pandemic Berlin

A new trailer for the highly anticipated queer movie Boy Meets Boy has been released before the film’s world premiere at BFI Flare: London LGBTQI+ Film Festival this month. Directed by Daniel Sánchez López, we embark on a love story that sparkles between two guys on a dance floor and turns into a one-day-adventure on the streets of Berlin.

“The contrasts in their lives and values force each one to confront their own truths. Boy Meets Boy is a feature-length mumblecore about the journey of a brief encounter: the mark left by a fleeting moment of joy.”, the official synopsis says.

After 48 hours of endless partying in Berlin, Harry shares a kiss with Johannes on the dance floor on his last day in Berlin. After initiating the conversation, Johannes offers to help Harry print his boarding pass before he takes off for the UK and this mundane task leads to a day wandering the streets of Berlin together. The time is running out and they understand the true meaning of this brief encounter. Performed by Matthew James Morrison and Alexandros Koutsoulis, we are taken on a heart-warming journey with unexpected turns, intimacy, and power of attraction born from the dance floors of Berlin.

With its scenic shots of our beloved city, Boy Meets Boy takes us back to pre-pandemic Berlin, where going to a club brought a night full of pleasant encounters, exciting twists, and spontaneity. It is a refreshing reminder of all the moments we took for granted when life felt normal and how much they mean now.

While the screening of the movie during the BFI Flare festival is for UK viewers only, a German release is planned for later this year.

The man behind the movie, Daniel Sánchez López, is a Spanish director and a writer, whose short film Pretty Things Are Going To Hell (2015) was selected for the 21st edition for LesGaiCineMad and the Durban Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. He has been living in Berlin since 2015 and founded Cosmic Productions, an audiovisual company that makes music videos, spots, and short films.

UPDATE: The movie is finally celebrating its theatrical release on January 13th, 2022, with several theaters in Berlin showing it!
