After a super successful first edition in December last year, C/O Berlin and Airbnb are following up and once again inviting photography lovers for free to the Open House – hosted by Airbnb on July 1, 2022 at the current exhibitions.
With the Open House concept, Airbnb continues their efforts to contribute to the revival of the cultural scene after years of pandemic-related lockdowns and to provide Berliners and visitors with a special experience.
We ourselves have already felt how culturally starved everyone is after these two years. So we are really grateful for every interesting event and every party that is currently taking place and we are out and about more than we have been in a long time. There is a lot to catch up on, and a visit to C/O Berlin shouldn’t be missing.
C|O Berlin Opening Exhibition Susan Meiselas and Bieke Depoorter
At the second edition of the Open House – hosted by Airbnb, which will take place on July 1, 2022, there will be plenty on offer again: Between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., everyone can visit the current exhibitions such as the retrospective “Susan Meiselas. Mediations” (for the first time in Germany) – with free admission. Between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., there will be hourly guided tours of the entire building. From 5:30 p.m. the evening program begins, for which Susan Meiselas will be present in person. At 6:30 p.m., she will give a talk in the cinema hall. Afterward, there will be music in the foyer by DJ Bonnie and everyone will get a free drink in the cafe.
Those who attended last year’s Open House know that this will be no ordinary exhibition visit, but a very special experience, similar to an exclusive opening. While exhibition openings are often for invited guests only, it is all the more delightful that this event will truly be open to the public.
The exhibition by Susan Meiselas is definitely worth a visit, too. The U.S. photographer is considered a pioneer of politically motivated documentary photography with a special focus on marginalized and disadvantaged groups. Her portraits have a collaborative approach with the people depicted, which is also considered a distinctive feature of her photography. Many emotional stories and moving moments are shown that will captivate its viewers.
