The 8 Best Places to See the NYE Fireworks in Berlin

One of the most marvelous things about New Years Eve, except for the excitement about the new year ahead and loads of booze to kill, is catching a glimpse of the great fireworks taking place every year in Berlin. In order for you to give something special to your New Years Eve and to start the year off with an amazing show of fireworks over your favorite city, we put together the best places with a scenic view for you to marvel at the fireworks with your loved ones.

1) Moltkebrücke

This bridge is the place for those, who don’t wish to join the massive crowd in front of the Brandenburger Tor and rather marvel at the firework from a pleasent distance. The bridge in Mitte between the Hauptbahnhof and the Kanzleramt is open to pedestrians and cars likewise, making it easy to cross the beautiful Spree and enabling a marvelous view on the fireworks over the skyline.

2) Oberbaumbrücke

For those who like it central: The Oberbaumbrücke functions as the link between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg and guides not only pedastrians but also the Sbahn over the Spree. Once you have reached the middle of the bridge, chose your favorite side of Berlin and enjoy the fireworks!

3) Großer Müggelberg

Towering over Berlin at a hight of 115 meters, the Big Müggelberg turns out to be the highest natural hill in Berlin. Since the Müggelberger are a tad farther out, following the east of Berlin, I recommend to take a car to not rely on the BVG when wanting to come back in after the spectacular fireworks. Truly, the view over Berlin turns out to be incomparable and this trip surely will go down as a new years eve story to remember.

4) Teufelsberg

When it comes to the many hills in Berlin, Berliners tend to have their favorites. Looking over the Grunewald and all bordering districts, the Teufelsberg is one of Berlin’s favorite spots to watch the firework. One of the reasons: It is easy to reach by BVG and car! People love to come prepared. Be ready to spot loads of packed Berliners with hot wine, blankets and fireworks!

5) Ahrensfelder Berge

Another spot for epic panoramic views over Berlin: The Ahrensfelder Berge. Most people only know Ahrensfelde as being the last stop of the S7 and not that a beautiful view is waiting for them at the end of the line. On New Years Eve many Berliners walk up the hill in Ahrensfelde to enjoy the gorgeous view of the fireworks from above, with enough space to celebrate and lots of friendly faces around.

6) At the Spree (Government District)

Are you up for New Years Eve by the river? Personally, I find that there is a certain magic that comes with being close to the river on meaningful evenings like these. Enjoy the fireworks in the middle of Berlin, between impressive architecture and the quiet Spree of the government district.

7) Rummelsburger Bucht

The Rummelsburger Bucht is a much loved place between Friedrichshain and Lichtenberg, pulling in many people especially in Berlins lovely summer time. Take advantage of this romantic setting on New Years Eve! Cuddle up with your loved ones and enjoy the scenic view on Berlins skyline, enjoying the fireworks in a place that feels like Berlin and somehow looks like holidays.

8. Monumentenbrücke

The Monumentenbrücke used to be an insider tip regarding its amazing panoramic view on Berlin’s skyline. It is still less known than the other bridges, making it more comfortable and less crowded on New Years Eve, while offering an amazing view on the Potsdamer Platz and the Fernsehturm!
